How do i just delete a character and not the content ID??

i wanna just delete a ffxi character, so i can use the content id to create a new one, i know it has to be possible, because it's in the create a character guide, however the control scheme for the PC is different than that of the PS2, and therefore i dont know how to do it for PC >< i was trying to make up a new character, and see if it would land in a server i wanted, like bahamut, but instead it ended up in the same server as my other character...ragnarok >< i need to get rid of it now.
