I made the most crucial mistake in my POL setup. There were two checks that said "save password" and I didn't check them. This should really be a problem since I wrote down my POL password and ID but low and behold, when I get to the screen to enter in my password, it will not go through.

My friends think I wrote down the pass wrong, I was in denial but now it looks like that's what I did. This is very dissappointing since one would think that it's a single letter error.... but I have been try different combinations of the password for about a week!:dead:

Anyway, I am now trying different methods to try to get online....

Question 1: Since my fiend is online, could he create another character along with his right now for me to play with??? And if so, is it possible for two people to play at the same time logged on with the same POL pass and ID???

I know, it's kind of far fetched, but I'm dessperate!!

I really don't want to buy another game, but I might if I am getting no where.

Did you write down what information you used to sign up? Because that will be the final way, which is to call SquareEnix and have them fix it.

Also, for those relying on the "Save Password" option, if you didn't write down the password and ensure that you written it correctly, you are going to regret it when you have to reinstall the game.

ALWAYS ALWAYS make 101% certain that you have written your password down EXACTLY the way it is shown. After you have written it down, ask a friend, a family member to read the password from where you recorded it back to you. Ask them if they see it as an upper case or lower case, MAKE SURE THE CASE IS CLEAR TO ANYONE THAT READS IT!

If you know you have mediocre or poor writing, and tend to have some letters confused, type it out on the computer and PRINT IT from the computer. That way, there is NO CONFUSION!

This is like the 8th time I have seen people post about writing down the password incorrectly.

LOL how can you be 101% sure heh heh.
Yeah, its no biggie, as long as you remember your Japanese information, most importantly, your name, you can get your password back, I also believe that FFXI asked you for your email address during account setup, so they have other means of contacting you other than by phone. :)

Actually, I do have my Japanese info and name. It was that one place on this website where you can copy/paste into the registration.

Oh, and I was poking around the pol.com website and came across the login page for you pol.com email address..... but low and behold, THEY DON'T WORK..... (email and pass.)

Should I call them, or will I get a Japanese person on the other end that will have no idea what I'm talking about???

If I can know what those Japanese names were that I copied/paste then I can see if I can get my pass back.

can someone answer to his "question1" that if you share acc, and have 2 chr in it, you can use the 2 chrs at the same time with 2 different machines?

AKosygin

Hummmmm..... Well, if you copy and paste the name, that person will have several accounts under him (and will be considered a BIG customer) :p

In any case, you will also need all the other info including payment information to distingish your account from the hundreds "that person" may also have. Then you need to make an overseas call to Japan and speak to them (in Japanese) to get your password back.

Ironically, the downside of copy and paste information from the website.... let's just say it can lead to security problems. The only thing that keeps your account safe is the "birthdate" because that is entered by you. Unless you did a name mix-and-match deal, which is safer. But in all cases, you need to call Japan and have someone whom can speak Japanese call as Mr. (whatever name you picked) and ask for the password again.

ANSWER TO QUESTION: No, as a GENERAL RULE with ALL MMORPGs, you can NEVER share account in a way where two people are logged in with the same account at the same time. And FFXI is no exception.
