Do you think all this is good to play FFXI on my computer? Becuase i'm importing this weekend and I want to make sure...thanks for the help I really appreciate it!

Heres what I came up with:

1.80 GHz
512 RAM
80 GB HD(60 Gigs left)
64 MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TV Out (GeForce2 MX)
SBL Live! Wave Device

Someone beforehand said it was good enough and to make a post to check thanks again.

you will be able to play it with your score... but at only 1800 i would expect poor frame rate at even low res... geforce2 really is not good enough for FFXI

And are you not going to upgrade to play? Are you going to keep it like that Shadowed?

Enjoy 640x480 or maybe 800x600. Get a new video card some day, really. ":3

Well can you please tell me what kind of video card?? I'm kind of clueless on what to get some people are saying I will do fine and some people are telling me to get a new video card and so forth...

Go to pricewatch.com and order yourself a GeForce 3 or 4 Ti-series videocard, depending on how much you want to spend. Do NOT buy an MX series card, because they're crap.

With a new videocard, your computer will run the game considerably better than with your current one. You /CAN/ run FFXI, but you'll have a ridiculously low framerate unless you run say, a 256x256 back buffer, which gives visuals that are worse than a PSX game. =P

Okay, thank you Paiku for the info. I'll go and check it out right now.

Edit:: Which one do you prefer if money doesn't matter? I'm looking around 120 bucks maybe even the GeForce4 T1 4800 is that one good? If so, which one...? Becuase I dont really know my video cards and i'm not sure which one is the best one to get...thanks again for your help.

Yeah the T1 4800 should be good enough to give you a 3000+ score which is pretty good for FFXI. ^-^

Oh okay...but when I click on that one..it comes up with like 20 other T1 4800's so i'm still not sure which one becuase some have TV out and DVI out so forth...? Thanks for putting up with my questions ^_^.

Based on necessity and price, I personally would snag the GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with 64 megs of VRAM. The 4600 is actually better than the 4800, if you want to pay a bit more. Since I don't know all the details about your system, whether your computer would take full advantage of a higher card is beyond me. The 4200 though again, is definitely a good card.

You could run a search on Google and read some reviews if you're still hesitant. ZDNet, C-Net, and other sites all have great info.

If you end up wanting to get one of the expensive cards, avoid the GeForce FX series. Best card series out right now is ATI's Radeon 9800.

An addendum: I'm on a laptop that runs a Radeon Mobility 9000, and I get a decent framerate on FFXI. However, FFXI was written with GeForce series videocards in mind; just something to remember. I get some minor graphical glitches here and there, nothing major, but it'd be nice if they weren't there.

Best of luck with your purchase.

I don't know why it wouldn't work... It looks alright to me :) BTW, I scored 4470 with these specs:

Pentium4 2.4Ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce4 Ti4200

Hey, John. I have you on my AIM buddy list but it says you are offline. I think you must have a closed list. Since you're about to import and my game will be coming in the mail sometime next week as well, do you think you could add InflzPmp so we could talk? :)
