Just curious...how many have imported the game with knowing very little to no Japenese? And if you did..how difficult was/is it to get by in the game?

I've really really been wanting to learn Japanese and I've been dying to play FFXI again since I got try it at E3 last week..soo this might be a great opportunity!!!

Your replies will be very much appreciated and will help me in my decision.

Thank you!

As long as you can find someone to show you the ropes, you should be able to get along fine without knowing japanese. Though, I would take the time to learn the Katakana symbols. It will help you more than you can possibly know. :)

I imported the game and have no knowledge of the Japanese language. I do, however, have an active interest in the language, which makes me enjoy my experience even more. As for getting by in the game, I have had no type of trouble getting by at all. A lot of people complain that the installation takes forever, but I managed to have the game, expansion, POL Viewer, and ready to play within an hour and a half. It is not that bad if you have worked with installation programs before. I would recommend that you find English speaking players to help you, and I would also recommend that you PRINT the guides on the site. They are very helpful. I went into the game and was put on a random server which happened to be Ramuh. I was very lucky in this as it has a larger importer community than most. They are really helpful and great people. ^^

I have only had the game for about three weeks, and I am having a blast. I would recommend importing it personally. You can transfer your character over whenever the NA comes out, so I see no reason not to. It also makes a nice addition to my game collection right next to my signed copy of Unreal Tournament 2003. ^^
