Seeing as these combinations are the two most popular, and according to some, the most effective combos for Monk. Which do you think is best or which one you are going for and why?
Monk/Warrior
Increased Str, Increased Vit, Increased HP, Taunt ability (even though monk defense isn't the greatest), and Double Attack
Monk/Thief
Increased Dex, Increased Agi, More items/gil, Backstab ability, Sneak attack ability
Feel free to correct or add to my analyzation

I usually go MNK/WAR because the PT usually needs me to dish out the damage. and having Taunt is an excellent safegaurd against things getting too out of hand. The only times I go MNK/THF is when PT is looking for items. Having THF sub for Fui'dama is normally only useful for tacking on extra damage onto WS/renkeis (since fui'dama damage is based on the level of THF and independent of main) you won't be doing more than a couple of hundred damage on a placed fui'dama attack as THF sub, though gil steal and treasure hunter I are nice to have when you go on fundraising trips...and now that they've lowered item drops, you'll be doing a lot more random trips to collect gil then item farming.

Monk/thief
Who need defense when you can dodge Attack
Monk/warrior
Who need speed when you can take the attack
Monk/black mage
Speed power in both hand 2 hand & magic combat

I personally think it would be best to be a monk theif because you get high evasion, sneak attack wich combined with stacked up boosts can do crazy dmg, and you get good gil and drops wich everyone likes to have in a party.:)

Sure they can, but you can only tame up to the ability of the BST level...actually, it wasn't like that always...you used to be able to sub BST 1 and tame up to your main level, but SquareEnix changed that in a patch, much to the dismay of many...
anyways...
As a /BST sub, you CAN use Tame...

I'm a monk/theif... just because there's Physical Evasion boost (theif), Dodge (monk), and then I have items that give +6 evasion too. Theives give a little boost to the stats too, and steal comes in handy... even gilfinder. I can go to Ghelsba and kill orcs and one hit and got 20 gil each.

Berserk Monk >>>> Backstabbing Thief
EDIT: I have reconsidered my postion, I think it really depends on the PT. If they need a DMG/back up tank go WAR, if they need a more versitle hate slinger go THF.
