They look similar but not extremely but yes the style is the same :) it would be cool if they had a theater ship that came by Jeuno or something to give plays ^^ lol  hmm yes they should do much more with airships

 Gotta love how photoshop is always blamed when things look suspicious, oy. No trust these days I tells ya.
Yeah, that's an original render of the airship from FFXI. The town is indeed the one from the intro... I just don't really know which town that is. People have said it's Jeuno, but Jeuno looks WAY different, and that place certainly isn't San D'oria Bastok or Windhurst.

Yeah, it's called heaven's bridge or heaven's gate or something. As far as I know it doesn't exist in-game.

yeah, its called heaven's gate, my first assumption was that it was jueno but then got destroyed but rebuilt, my theory was destroyed the moment i set foot in jueno (in game its surrounded by water) so my guess is eventually it will be in the game, if not an actual town, just the ruins, it sure would be dynamic to have a boss battle on top of that thingamajig

Sorry, I can't help but laugh that's kinda funny...hahaha. It's Vana'deil in the background.

Huh... no... lol
Vana'diel is the name of the whole world.
The city in the background was described on page one to be Heaven's Gate/Bridge or somthing to that extent. It doesn't exist in the game yet.

The place IS Heaven's gate which is the gateway between the continent that Windurst is on and the continent San Doria and Bastok are no. the city under it is Jueno. And I'm pretty sure it is in the game because then you would have to travel by air or water between the 2 major continents.

Er, I think you'd best leave that statement up to the people who actually play the game. The city in the picture is indeed Heaven's Gate (as stated numerous times already in this thread), but the consensus is and has always been that it is not actually in the game. Here's a link to a map of the world with each and every area listed (in Japanese).
http://www58.tok2.com/home/lonelyff/index.htm
I assure you, there are no land masses connecting the two continents, and there is no area currently in the game called Heaven's Gate. This means that yes, unless you go through Jueno by foot, to get to the opposite continent you must travel by Airship from Jueno to wherever else you want to go, by boat from Mhaura to Selbina, or by teleporting.
Oddly, I have found this description (on this site and a number of others, typed exactly the same and displaying the exact same Heaven's Gate picture from the Intro, whereas descriptions for other cities are accompanied by actual in-game shots)-
"Grand Duchy of Jueno
Jueno is a young nation situated at a strategic point between two of Vana Diel's continents, which are joined by a structure called "Heaven's Bridge." It's neutral to the ongoing power struggle between the three other main nations, preferring to make money off of trade with all and sundry. Its towns are occupied by people of many different races and trades, although the hume and goblin races predominate."
As to Jueno being the city under it, I'm not sure who wrote that, but judging by the actual layout of Jueno there was some falsity to this. It's actually an island between the two continents, surrounded entirely by water, and connected to both continents via 3 bridges (one per each level with an exit outside of Jueno - Port, Lower and Upper Jueno, Rulude Gardens has no exit as it's located above the clouds). So unless the area flooded really badly within 20 years (which isn't indicated by the intro, as Heaven's Gate is depicted at the end of it as the same structure but 20 years later being entirely covered in forest and rubble), I think someone just took a guess before actually investigating this.
Attached is a screenshot that illustrates my point (view from Lower Jueno of the immense body of water surrounding Jueno and one of the bridges leading to one of the continents). Hope this clears that up for the people who are under the impression that Jueno and Heaven's Gate are somehow related.

I'm sure that most of the information you have stated is true. I got my info here on the site, but it was updated in January, so it might be in correct.

Yeah, I saw that there. I also tried looking at the Japanese homepage for FFXI, but oddly they don't list Jueno as one of the major cities, just Windurst, San d'Oria and Bastok.
Although, the thought occured to me that hey, obviously this description came from somewhere, maybe it's in the instruction booklet! Lo and behold, I just looked. It is where that description came from... so, according to that description it was indeed built on Heaven's Bridge (not gate after all :p ) after the big war scene in the intro... that doesn't however explain why it's surrounded by water. I also thought the game was taking place at the end of the intro, and you can still find Aldo (the boy from the intro) in Jueno, aged to apparently around where he was at the end of the intro (where Heaven's Bridge is covered in forest), although he seems to be a bit more "decorated" nowadays. So, either someone up in the design department wasn't meshing with the rest of the department, or them Vana'dieliens did a whole lot of re-routing rivers, building dams, and lots of construction in the apparent few years between the intro and when you're supposedly starting the game. Either way, I guess I can't fight the official instruction booklet.

this is just speculation, but are you sure that that pic is of Jueno? the author could've titled it incorrectly. This is the only thing I can think of that could have happened.

Heh, I took the pic myself. :p No problems there. I woulda taken one from outside Jueno but it's so far away you can usually only see the water and part of the bridge going to it.
