Today I was searching kazaa for the patch and I found a program called "Final fantasy XI japanese to english translator", at first I thought it was a trojan so I downloaded it and then I scanned it with Norton Antivirus Professional 2003 with the current updates and it found nothing, I then installed it and it works, sorta.. to be more explanatory the items are all in english, the translation isnt so great but it gets it done.. the pictures are still in japanese.. some of the overheads too.. but for what its worth it works great, try it out and post reviews here.. if you want i can upp it somewhre but just search on kazza

and a few things.
First off, you're free to scan the file, as when you download files off kazaa you SHOULD scan them, i'm just simply telling you what I ran across today to try to help you guys.. i'im not telling you to download it if you dont want to.. do what you wanna do.. but where would u like screenshots?

he does not really know how to make screenshots can someone post how to do. Maybe he is not telling us garbage and there is areal translation. He has sent me the prog but since I have no FFXI yet I can not use it

what directory .. It doesnt unzip in FFXI files .. can you plz tell me where to unzip it?
why is the file so small 320ko ?
and i dont see any translated string in the exe
and it got socket calls
looks like a fake
and the site u mentioned is .com and the link is .net ....

Ok, I unziped it to my desktop, but when I click on the FFXI translator file, it just disappears .. and im like WTF? ... whats wrong?

It disappears because it is FAKE. Your FFXI is probably screwed up now or you have a virus/worm eating at your system. :(
UPDATE: I did a search for our "disappearing" file. It landed in "c:\windows\prefetch" folder, but it's now a .PF file which is unknown to me. :(

Nothing on my system has changed (outside of FFXI or inside). No translations, nothing! It's either just a file that is meant to go POOF or a very subtle virus. Where is this "Trance"!? Why hasn't this person said anything more? Are you mad cuz people are pointing fingers at you? Are you trying to screw up people's systems cuz you knew that people would jump on the "Japanese to English" boat? SPEAK UP? Where are you & your "screenshots"? :mad:

i just downloaded it and before i ran it i checked through my procceses and when i ran it no new procces actualy poped upp but an error (might be fake error trojan but i doubt that)i got another exe named Playonline translator something and i put my online id and passwd and it connected directly to ffxi skiping all playonline things!! thats cewl just after i chosed my character it crashed and dammn must be my memory dunno :/ someone should test it out and confirm

anti virus programs do miss trojans and back-door openers....
try scan your system w/ the true anti-trojan programs

I downloaded the file, scanned it using McAfee Anti-Virus and the latest virus definitions, and it found the "BackDoor-ACH" trojan inside.
This file IS a virus. It's obvious by the small size and the "custom" DrWatson Icon.
When you double click on this file, it appear like it does nothing. That's not it. What it does is install a backdoor trojan so that the virus make can access and control your computer by the net, including getting all files, deleting what they want, etc etc.
For those of you who executed this file, I suggest that you get a up to date anti virus and scan your system. The sooner the better.
I don't have time for this, but someone have to report this forum member who is fu**ing you up with that shit using your desire to play a english import version.

You can get a free Vifrus Scanner at http://www.grisoft.com, Not sure if it catches it, but it should.

Same thing happened to me, after I opened it, it dissappeared then my firewall asked me if I wanted to allow iexplarer.exe to access the internet then asked if i wanted to allow it to act as a server.

Another thing, when I tried to scan it with Norton, Norton crashed and still will not run.
((Pulls out the Almighty FDISK, followed by his most recent back up (Which just happened t be made lastnight:cool:)))

Funny you should mention that. He registered that domain, so his REAL NAME should be in his whois record or his registrar's records. So we can strike back at him and his ISP if you feel like it.
