Even if they would be connected, unless there's someone named Kiya on the server you want to go, you'll be fine.

ok, i heard that the NA version WILL use the japanese servers! if this is true, i really do need to get a new name because i want to play with Kelenae and she is on Ramuh and there is already someone named Kiya in Ramuh T_T so i need new name suggestions! someone said Kiyanna, and i think thats pretty good

Kiyako? Hrm, don't think that name meens anything ^_^;; -ko signifies girl, but Kiya, I'm not sure what that meens ^^;; Kiyaku meens Indestructable, or breaking a promise, or a rule or code...

Now 'Kiya' is the name of one of Akhenaten's wives. She was after Nefertiti but before being replaced by his own daughter Meritaten....

LOL ^^ If your name is 'Ross' in English, then the japanese equivelent to it is 'Kiya'... So it prolly meens, "wooded meadow" just like it's english counterpart :)

I don't take much stock on what sites like this say the word meens ^_^;; They are usually wrong... But then again there are meny meenings to each name, usually. Like 'Brian' meens more then one thing, depends on what website you go to, and how you interpit it ...

Kasumi is a nice name....and btw....there could be one kiya in each of the servers and they could also get world passes to be ALL on the same server.....i saw a pic once with two RA's and it was the same thing... So you can keep ur name Kiya ^^....or maybe you like your new one better? :biggrin:

i saw a pic once with two RA's
the picture in question was a group screen shot of a Red Mage only Linkshell gathering, every character's name of the screen was shortened down to two characters each in order to protect the identity of those pictured

or at least, that was the consensus achieved after more people commented on the picture posted here on the forums, that the picture had been edited and that there are not two people with the same name on the same server

as far as world passes, they can only be used as part of the character creation process so that you can enter a specific server with your new character, it will not allow you to have the name of another player already on that server

world shifting, on the other hand, will allow a character that was already made to move to a underpopulated server, this is moderated by Square-Enix personally and they will work out themselves what to do if a character's name is already created

world shifts are very rare and cannot be counted on to move you to a specific server, especially if you're wanting to move to a popular server (world shifts only occur to fix population imbalances)


now, as for the names themselves, I personally like Kiyoko a lot, even before this name was mentioned on that long list of names, I felt it was much better than Kiyako, I think the only problem with Kiyoko is that it sounds a bit too much like Hiyoko, which is a "Baby Chicken" which is cute but may not be the effect you're looking for

I then thought that perhaps Kinoko would be a good name, but one way of reading it would mean "Child of Tree" so that would be a bit strange if you interpreted it in that way

names like Asami and Kasumi are very common names for people in Japan, so I would imagine that they are already taken on most servers, though they are nice names
