With the October and Q1 2004 dates, What r U going to do???

ok... i just want to know what is in the FFXIOnline.com members' mind right now after knowing about all the rough release dates from Sony's pre-E3 annoucement.

I know that there is a thread/poll somewhat like this down below by Lady Kelenae;) , but since we can't really bomb/burn SonyHQ (which i'm sure we all want to) i just want to know what u r really going to do [cuz most of u voted for burning down the HQ option:sweat: ]

I apologize for the long list of options, but i tried my best to organize them in the way that won't confuse pple...

SE hasn't made an official statement about the release date. lets all wait 'till the conference begins for SE to actually say something (instead of dumb-ass sony). and, as someone said in another thread, they may have just said the HDD and FFXI for PS2 will be released AS A BUNDLE Q1 of 2004. meaning, its a possibility that they will be released seperately before that time (or atleast, thats what im hopin! =P) so, im not voting, yet :spin:

My decision is based upon the assumption that I can use my current import character on the NA version. If I can use my import character on the NA version and stay on the same server, then I will buy the NA PC version. Otherwise, I will stick with the Japanese, albeit I do not know a single word of Japanese.

I was reading on rpgamer and all they had listed was FFXI PS2 will be released Q1 2004, I just fell over wondering what it was going to take to import the game. But now that there is even a hope of a PC version in October, I can rest at ease.

i think the current message is already strong enough. S-E do want to release the game here ASAP, due to many MMORPGs are being released and developed... ...by deciding to release PC version by themselves in front of SONY's decision is a good soft hit on Sony's back (how many FFs before this that the PC version came out before console?? think about how much sony will lose because pple are picking up the PC version first and ignore the PS2, HDD, and its game?:rolleyes: i mean, will sony now sell enough HDD??)

I dont beleive we will have to wait till october, i mean look at the english screenshots they look pretty much complete.Its prob just hype to get ppl all physced up and also now when they release it early we'll be happy instaed of if they told us it wasa week tommorrow to release andthen it was delayed we would be pi$$ed so at least now they can release it anytime before october and all they'll get is praised.

That is reallly going to suck because I am the leader of a linkshell and I have to wait fro the ps2 version...will a member from my linkshell be able to register the linkshell and then hand it over to me when I recive the game...is this even possible???

Well that person that made it would be the leader of the linkshell and have all the powers to distribute the pearls. I'm really not sure if someone can hand the leadership off to someone else. You probably can!! Of course you know you will also need a world pass to guarntee that you and your linkshell are in the same server. I have the exact same problem as you with my clan. Well, I never imagined that the PC NA version would be released before PS2.

Even though I'm still waiting for the PS2 version (and unhappy about it, of course), I have to admit that it wouldn't have made sense for S-E to delay the PC release just because of the problem (SONY!) afflicting the PS2 and HDD release. So their current plan makes sense to me - it's the only way they can even partially deliver on their promise to release the game in NA before the end of 2003.

Oh well. I've waited this long, haven't I? I can be a very patient person. Wake me up when the PS2 version hits shores.... :zzz:

its sort of a tragedy dont you think? I mean, over the past years you can see Sony making stupider and stupider mistakes. This is one of the worst marketing deals I have seen them promote.

"We will bundle the HDD, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy XI:Vision of Jiraat all in one, but there is a catch. You have to wait 3 months after the actual release of Final Fantasy XI when everyone will have it. Oh and you will have to probably pay an outrageous price for this bundle!"

...if you ask me, they will spend more money bundeling and creating the hdd's that it will put Sony in a deficit of money for this project cause everyone will have the PC version. I am a Mac user, I was planning on going for the PS2 version, now this comes up and I am just REPULSED!

Recently, I have been looking into custom building my cpu 'Jenova' and that is probably what I will do, although I won't jump the gun on this information just YET. If all of this information is true then I will most likely build 'Jenova' one month before FFXI PC release. Sad day indeed...Square should fuck Sony for this aweful mistake and go back to Nintendo and help them establish them better then they are now. Everyone knows once the PSP and PS3 are released, Nintendo's down fall will occur. Game set-and matched on Nintendo and it would be aweful to see them go ;(

Well I was thinking about this and found one only good way to deal with it...find one good member in your linkshell that is getting the pc version...have him/her regiserthe linkshell under their char then when say I get the ps2 version I can have them delete the linkshell and then I create it new again but this time I am leader and have all pwrs to the linkshell....does that make any sense???

it took me quite a while to put it together (about half an hour+, i think.... ....most of the time typing it up+cut&paste and, like u said, thinking/fixing about what else the options there might be);)

i just really curious of what others are thinking (from seeing different posts about different ideas: asking for import sites, complaining about PS2 version [like me], saying that they are getting the PC cuz it's coming out first... some even give up the whole thing about FFXI:( :handsdown :dead: :sweat: :handsdown (i was surprised about that as well:sweat: )

I am NOT an importer, who plans to buy the NA PC Version.

I wanted to buy the PS2 version, due to the fact I wanted to see how this MMORPG would play on a console. I like console games a little better than PC ones, though there are many amazingly fun PC games out there. It's all a matter of comfort for me. Having played console games my whole life (going back to the days of Atari.. god, I feel old) I have an attachment to them, so seeing them go online was very cool and exciting. I was disappointed to see Sony delay the PS2 FFXI release. It would have sold in droves if they'd released it late this summer, along with the HDD.

With the upcoming PC release, many will go for it due to the benefits of improved graphics, as well as not having to buy extra hardware. There won't be a reason for most to buy the PS2 version, unless they can't afford to upgrade their computer. I was thinking of getting both, but now I'm not sure if I will. I'll most likely just hunt down a PC adaptor for my PS2 controller.

October is a great time for the PC version to come out, since this summer will be extremely busy for me. I am getting married this July, then moving to the other side of the country in August. By October I will be settled in my new home and have a new job by then. I will also have cable internet instead of crappy dialup. Woohoo! My new computer will be ready in a few days, and it will run FFXI without a single problem. :thumbsup:

Since I saw the first screen shots of FFXI on Magic Box back in 2000 I always pictured myself playing this game on PS2. At the time it was one of the reasons I planned to get a PS2. The MAIN reason.

But, I've waited long enough. If there's really a 3-5 month gap between the PC release date and the PS2 release date then I'm going to suck it up and get a new PC. My current computer (at home) is really, really old and I've been thinking about replacing it anyway. Now I know I will.

So, I am not importing but I am getting the PC version in October.
