what would be a good sub job to a Elvaan Ranger im just wondering and im not sure but as of right now im leaning toward Ranger/Warrior but any help would be greatly apprcieated(sp)

I think rnager thief is good for agility na dexterity skills needed to hit htings that move is alyas good.
BUt to to be honest this has been answered before try the search feature in various forums works very good .

I think a theif would be a good sub for a ranger, ( you get a nice bost in agi which increases your accrease so you'll hit more often) plus you'll be getting more money which never hurts when you have to buy your own arrows. . . oh and for future refrence when posting in these things you might want to actually answer the question instead of just pointing out the obvoius "Mr Gamer373"

PERSONNALY thou, I have to say your secondary class depends on what you wanna do... Depends on the monster you are going to fight as well. For example if you are just trying to get money then Ranger / Thief would be the way to go. But if you wanna lay the smack down and don't really have a good tank in the group, Ranger / Monk, for the extra defence and HP... So it all depends on who you are with, what they are subbing..

1)Obviously, Rangers use guns and bows from afar... but what do they use for close range combat? Do they still use the bow/gun at close range or can they use swords, daggers, grappling, etc.

2)I know that Agility is the main factor for bow/gun accuracy, but does actual range have any factor into this? Will I have a much greater chance of striking an enemy who is close to me than from afar? Or does it not matter at all and is only based on AGI?

3)How far can Rangers shoot from an enemy? Is it a farther range than the range of mage's spells?

4)If I had a thief sub, would it be possible to shoot the enemy, than when the enemy charges at me, could I use the thief "super fast run" ability to run and shoot the enemy an additional time before the run wears out and the enemy catches up?

5)If Rangers can grapple I was thinking of using a monk sub. Will that hurt my AGI stat too much to be a good ranger?

6)I heard that Rangers can start using guns at early levels. Can I just focus on guns the rest of the game (if money and cost of ammo is not a factor). Or are bows better at certain lvl ranges and guns better at others? I heard guns are better at the later levels but I don't know about the mid level range.

I would love to hear the answers to these questions. Just please DO NOT GUESS at the answers. If you've never played it but have heard from a good source about an answer than that is fine. But please do not say, "Well I think your distance should affect your hit ratio". I think so too but I am just guessing and I don't need someone else to guess for me. I would like to know the actual facts. Thanks in advance for any info :)

4. By that you mean you're gonna do some soloing? If you sub a thf the flee command is available at level 25 which means that you have to be a level 50 ranger which also means that its gonna be hard soloing ^^; Also if you keep running and shooting monsters just be aware of linking moster because they will train you.

6. According to the Bilingual Website (http://db.davidbowie.jp/eriwilde/ffxi/index.html#) gun can be equipable as early as level 15. Just incase you cant wait that long you can start with a class that can use a xbow (war for example) since they fall on the same category in terms of weapon skill level or start with a thf to get the level 15 gun (note: thf cant use other xbows besides some low leveled guns).
