Though opinions are more than welcome, I'm mainly looking for screenshots of damage done by certain shuriken with certain builds. I've been interested in ploughing some gil into these for a long time, and though atm I don't have the af+1 hands or racc gear in excess to make it work, I have yet to cap throwing. ._.

I just find it shocking that NIN's 'main' A- trait has almost no use or accessibility, despite having half of its AF support it.

If you yourself have dabbled in shuriken in exp/ballista/solo, could you perhaps post a screenshot or two of the damage? I'm hopeful that this will be well worth the skilling up, 15k or so in ingredients per synth and finding the right smithing level in whitegate to make em. Thanks!

P.S Any shots of Sange would do wonderfully, also. I'm also interested in that field of throwing.

I don't have any screens, but I can tell you that even RNG's couldn't touch my damage when I did NIN 18-20 in the dunes throwing Shuriken. They do a lot of damage very fast but as we all know are ridiculously expensive.

Let's do a simple comparison;

For Shuriken: Item: Shuriken - Final Fantasy XI - somepage.com (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3075)

A whopping 9.08 DPS!

Now, a Power Bow +1 with Fang Arrows has 13.55 DPS (if I'm adding this right, I don't think I did) but when you also factor in say a pair of Suzume (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/675) which has a DPS of 3.47 (not sure how DW factors in there) it adds up to some pretty sick DoT.

Surikens are great at the lower levels if you don't have to worry about gil. The thing is once you get to the higher levels there is no good surikens that are easy to come by or stack high enough. Sange is mildly useless, seeing again it is expensive to stack up a shit load of good surikens

Thanks. I've got a friend who can synth me Manji's, and is at the cap. I just need to provide the fairly expensive materials, all this of course once I've capped throwing. :$

Fuma was an option...for about 2 seconds. I mean cmon, ranged weapons in stacks of 12? What the hell was SE thinking when they made this job, its skills and AF?

Shuriken have always been the most damaging and most expensive weapons in the past FF games. The biggest difference though is that in FF3-6 you can actually make the gil needed to buy them in a relatively short amount of time (well not so much 3; they were INSANELY expensive in 3 but well worth it)

My biggest complaints with NIN have always been the costs. RNG's not so bad, since you can either do Woodworking and be able to make all your bolts and arrows, or do alchemy for all your bullets.

NIN on the other hand is retarded by comparison. You need very high smithing to get any sort of decent return from synthing shuriken, and the materials are generally grossly more expensive than what it takes to make Silver Bullets or even Kaburra Arrows. Never mind the rate at which NIN can blow through these.

And then you have each and every tool under all the different crafts...

What the hell was wrong with sticking them all under alchemy? Seriously, it would have made a lot more sense and made it easier to play around with NIN's other abilities more freely.

When I farm I use Shurikens to pull mobs for fun. They usually land anywhere from 90-110. About the same as my katana would do to the mobs. I never really use them for exp during my sessions. I guess I could try on an exp mobs butim willing to bet around the same as my weapon would.

The problem with Ninja is that they have a high level throwing. But nothing to to take advantage of. We have 5 different Shuriken The best is probably the Fuma Shuriken, but it only stacks for 12 and costd 100k. An thats if a stack ever sold. Which hasnt happened in over a year. We can go down the line but its all the same.

High level craft, with a just as high loss in revenue. Add in lack of sales and lack of use. You just wont find much of them being sold. I wish merchants sold them for cheap. It would make for another form of entertainment. But thats only a dream. Right now all but the regular Shuriken are sold for ridiculous prices.

You can usually get a stack of Shuriken from the Tenshodo shops, sometimes a little more if no one bought any the day before for around 45-54 gil each.

In my opinion some of the elemental jutsu should have been based on Throwing skill since all ninjutsu involve the use (throwing) of a tool at an enemy to damage them.

i've always thought this too. it could be like how bards songs use both singing + instrument skill together when playing a song. a lot/all of the elemental and debuff ninjutsu could easily use throwing + ninjutsu skills.

Well, in past FF's Ninjas could throw "skills" to cast different elemental attacks and abilities. They kept it tool based this time, but was kinda weird that they got changed to magic as opposed to something you throw.

I forget if Edge used MP or not, but in 3 5 and 6 you used the Throw command to use both shuriken and ninjutsu (excluding Ninja's other special command in FF5 to increase evasion, which btw is what Utsusemi/Blink originally did, not shadows)
