I've read a couple threads concerning this issue but none really address my specific question.

I'm about to buy a new laptop and I am going back and forth between a vista 32 bit or a vista 64 bit system. Mainly because I want the extra ram and I know 32 bit only goes to around 3g of ram. Is there any issue FFXI has specifically with vista 64 bit that I should take into account?

BTW, if anyone is planning buying a computer and knows somebody with a costco card there is a really good deal on the dv9700t (17in HP laptop).

Here's the spec for the one I'm planning on getting:

I bought the same laptop for my daughter for college. I installed ffxi on it just to see what it looked like. It was sooooo good I bought one for myself. I play ff on a wireless connection and it matches performance of my desktop. I've had no problems at all-- enjoy !

I run FFXI on Vista 64-bit (on different hardware) and don't have any issues.

I'm not positive, but I think 32-bit software shouldn't have a problem running on 64-bit Windows operating systems. I think the problems only begin when you try to find 64-bit drivers for your various hardware devices...

So, FFXI, the game itself, should be fine.

Agreed, I use 64 bit Vista myself, and it works fine! :P

Ah, good to hear all of the comments. I'm really looking forward to this laptop as my old desktop is on its last limb. I have to wait until next week to make the purchase and its really getting me...feel like a 5 year old going to disneyland next week.
