Ok I have heard of this Fraps program that takes HQ pics and videos inside the FFXI world. But, I what I want to know is it illegal to use on FFXI? Like will I get banned for it? Also, is there a way to make the pics smaller?, I have seen some pics from Fraps on here..and they are kind of big.

No, you won't get banned for using FRAPS.

Sigh, I almost typed FAPS.

Within the program, I believe you have the option to change the size of the saved images.

No. Not only does Fraps not affect FFXI in any way, SE has encouraged it's usage.

You might want to consider free software that does mostly the same thing, Taksi: Video capture/Screen capture for 3D applications (http://taksi.sourceforge.net/) for one

And you can resize them in an image editor if you want; but if they look big, you might want to change your settings so your resolution is higher (if you aren't playing on PS2 or 360)

They encouraged it? I thought they were all hissy at 3rd party software?

When did SE finally take their medication?

Why would they have video contests if making the video was against ToA?

Balfree: Like Shrayn said, video contests; specifically at fan fest.

They don't consider it third party software, since it doesn't actually change FFXI

Wait. Fraps isn't free? That program BitTorrent illegally downloaded it to my computer then!?! And then my computer ran the keygen and copy/pasted it into the program knowing that it was illegal!? Are you telling me, Feba, that I'm some sort of... pirate? Gasp.

Directly, there's no real way to take smaller pics. Fraps just screencaptures everything in the window. This is where you move on to that amazingly complicated art of photo cropping.

Free as in price and free as in freedom are two different things.
