Decimos

I am very new to Final Fantasy I just started playing about 2 or 3 days ago. I play on the Hades server and it's very tough for me to level on my own. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong or if its just hard to solo, I don't know. But I really would appreciate if someone one the Hades server, or just someone in general could help me level give me advice on what gear to buy and such. I'm not asking for your money or gear or anything. Just a couple of personalized tips I guess. Currently I am only a level 6 Elvaan Warrior in the town of San D' Oria. It seems like there aren't many noobs on the server I'm on and I'm just kind of lost. I dont know what these subs are and I'm pretty much just confused. I've read a lot of these online forums and guides but none really seem to help me. I'm willing to put in the time necessary to play the game if I just had some clue as to what to do, where to go, where to start, what to aim for. Something, anything at all. Like I said it'd be really nice if someone on the Hades server could level with me or give me any advice. My ingame name is Decimos and for the next year I probably wont even venture away from my hometown.
Any Help Appreciated.

The first thing I would recommend is a linkshell that helps new players. Usually one can be found by talking/shouting for on in front of the ah. This will give you a communication tool to many players that can answer questions and help you while you play.
When you need to find things like gear/weapons/items, FFXIWiki can be a great help. At the lower levels gear doesn't always make or break you, but the lizard gear(level 7) at the armor shop (South Sandy) will be your next armor. Great Axe is one of the best weapons for warrior. Selbina milk can speed up leveling a bit in the lower levels too. One of the regional merchants to the left and right of the ah in south sandy sell this but only when we control certain regions. All of these can be found on the ah too.

Im Jaela and I'm also on the Hades server. I'm a level 67 Thief, and I'm willing to offer any help if you happen to catch me when I'm online. :)
Your best bet is to kill everything you can right outside the starting city, sell a bunch of it to the NPCs, and save about 2000gil to buy the first set of leather armor. For warriors the upgrades you should get should roughly follow this chain:
Upgrade those to the left first, those to the right are least important.
Weapons <---- Armor <---- Stat enhancing rings ----> All other items
As a warrior during the early jobs you'll need to be able to solo until at least level 10. A great weapon and a good set of armor will help you do just that. Stat enhancing rings and other items dont really help much until after level 10. I estimate to a person completely new at the game it should take between 1-2 weeks to make it to level 10.
At level 18 you should finish your subjob quest, pick a subjob that a melee class would use. Red Mage, White mage, and Black mage are not recommended Melee subjobs.
At level 30, you probably want to unlock NIN and level it to 30 or so for subbing it, the utsusemi quest might be a good idea as well. Afterwards yo might want to swap your main job to Paladin for a more serious tanking experience with a spruce of White magic, or DRK for a more Damage Dealing experience with a bit of Black magic.
I personally also recommend playing Red Mage, because they can melee, cast black magic, and white magic. Making them jacks of all trades. Playing a few levels of RDM will give you the basis for most of the mage jobs.
Send me a tell in the game. Good luck! Stay Alive! Dont get Discouraged.
If you happen to want to know where you should hang around to get each level, heres a good guideline:
1-9: West/East Ronfuare
10-13: La Thiene Plateau
14-20: Valkrum Dunes
21-25: Qufim Island
At 25 you should get the Kazham airship airship pass by getting the following items:
Giddeus Chest Key
Ghelsba Chest Key
Palborough Chest Key
Chances are you'll be able to find each if you ask me for help in game. Feel free to. I have lots of free time.
26-29: Yuhtunga Jungle
30-33: Yhoator Jungle
34-37: Garliage Citadel
And so on. If you have any questions just send me a tell.

I, too, am on Hades, and I'm almost always busy but I can usually at least answer questions if you have them, so feel free to send me a /tell. And you might even get lucky, I might actually have free time when you get me. (Doubtful, but I try to help when I can.)
