Alright. So I've just recently got back into playing NIN. I have a static, kinda a weird setup (4x WAR/NIN, me, and a BRD/WHM). Needless to say, it's been working out, and I'm closing in on Blade: Jin level rapidly. My main is THF, so I have a ton of money, so buying gear isn't really a problem if I want to do good. But I can't decide on what's more important, modifiers, or acc?
Here's my current setup for WS, tell me if you think it needs improvements. Btw, I'm using attack food.
Head: Empress Hairpin (3 dex)
Neck: Chiv Chain (3 str, 5 acc)
Ear 1: Minuet Earring (1 str, 1 dex 3 acc (since we have brd) )
Ear 2: Spike Earring (5 attack)
Body: Haubergeon ( 10 attack, 10 acc, 5 dex, 5 str)
Waist: Potent Belt (3 str, 8 acc)
Legs: Royal Knight Breeches (3 dex, 3 str, 2 attack)
Feet: Savage Gaiters (3 str)
Hands: Ochimusha Kote (20 attack) , or AF Gloves (3 dex)
Ring: Snipers Ring
Ring: Snipers Ring
Weapon: Kabutowari +1
Weapon: Kabutowari +1
This is at level 61. Do you think I should go more acc, or get more str with the snipers? Also, is it honestly worth the money to get that Darksday Katana?

If your WS macro isn't already set up to tell you TP return, I suggest doing something similar to the following. This is my typical WS macro:
/p {Weapon Skill} {Blade: Jin}!
/ws "Blade: Jin"
/wait 2
/echo TP: <tp>
This way, you can scroll back up in your chat log and check how much TP you got back right after Jin. This is probably the best way to tell if you need more acc in your WS setup. The only times I've seen the /wait 2 not be sufficient is during really, really, really bad lag. Also, if you get hit by the mob during that time, you'll see some extra TP from that (probably most likely to happen if the mob just happens to do a -ga or a shadow ignoring TP move right as you use Jin).
Keep in mind that even with "capped" hit rate of 95%, you're still only going to land all 3 mainhand + 1 offhand hits on Blade: Jin about 80% of the time. But if you noticed you're only landing 4 hits about half the time, that means you're only getting about 85% hit rate.
If you're landing all 4 hits consistently (i.e. about 75% to 80% of the time), then you're probably set on accuracy and can focus on adding modifiers. If not, then you probably want to swap in some more accuracy in place of modifiers.
As far as Snipers vs STR rings vs even more acc... since you're eating meat, I'd say stick with the Snipers. I would be shocked if you're actually hitting the hit rate cap while eating meat at your level. I don't really see much you could do to add even more accuracy, except Peacock Charm and Life Belt.

Lyonheart put it quite nicely. Cap out your hit rate first (i.e. when close to 80% of your Jins land all hits,) worry about Attack and STR later. This is the golden rule of multi-hit WS.

I know the general consensus is to raise STR for WS, but Jin has a DEX mod as well correct? And DEX affects crit rate, so is STR still that much better over DEX in this case?

Short of endgame stuff like Byakko's Haidate, I don't think there's enough DEX gear around to see a noticeable boost in crit rate. It already takes very large amounts on merit mobs to see significant differences.

Already have Peacock Charm and Life Belt, hehe. I suppose I can alternate gear in and out and see what works best, then make an equip macro for that.

Don't ever take off Peacock Charm again unless you have a Sea Torque.
Ever.

Chiv Chain for WS tho? Seems pretty good.

Not unless you have capped hit rate with Chiv Chain, in which case you'd be wasting Accuracy by equipping the Charm in the first place.. Which I doubt, because you're eating meat.
Not that the Chiv Chain is bad mind you, but as long as we're dealing with a 4-hit WS, 5 Acc beats 3 STR.
Besides, if you were told that Sniper Rings would help more than STR things, then by that same reasoning the 5 Acc from Peacock Charm would help more than the 3 STR from the Chain. It's pretty much the same thing.
Oh and I missed this but don't even think about AF gloves! 20 Attack beats 3 DEX by far.

Are spectacles a good alternative to peacock charm if you don't want to lay out the 1.4mil more for 3 acc?
sorry for the somewhat necropost bump. thing.

Looks good to me. (Hope Torque is even cheaper, but I'm yet to be convinced that those torques exist. :wasted: )
