Soloing on SMN today, and I recalled hearing on vent that they couldn't effectively test enmity on Avatars due to the whole aggroing.

So that leads me to this based on what I've currently observe while soloing.

Myself having an enmity+1 merit, don't ask why, and against Goblin Reaper and Poachers in the first camp of Gustav Tunnel as a 47 summoner.

Last fight against the Reaper, started with Fenrir; opened with /pet Assault command then used his Evasion/ACC down ward, and blind rage BPs. Not once did the goblin look to me, considering avatar commands seem to draw in hate more than most BPs.

After the BPs landed, I moved out of target/pet-hp bar range and released then summon Carbuncle. Thats when things started looking iffy. The entire time following since using Carbuncle, including Poison Nails, the Goblin Reaper took a while to stop chasing me even though his is casting/hitting Carby. Even when I get close to the distance border, it suddenly starts to chase me.

This leads me to believe the majority of enmity gained by BPs and melee by avatars are Volitile enmity entirely or have a higher rating of VE compared to Cumilative enmity, while any pet commands issued is just the opposite on the summoner.

While I don't have numbers due to the fact I have no parser, unable to screenshot cause of the fact I'm soloing and trying to stay alive :x I'm certain, its of the general direction of this. Plus video would eat up space/being too long to record v.v;

Sound interesting. Question?! When you summon'd carby did he auto att? Or did you gain extra hate by using assault?

Something you want to look into

Whispering Wind- This aoe curaga does not generate any hate and if it does it's VERY small... I have tried this as a hate tool repeatedly for when parties take heavy damage(didn't have spring water at the time)

I have tried it for solo and the bp itself does not generate hate(if it does, small amount); however something such as healing ruby used on the smn does for a modest amount.

I'm inclined to believe that the poison effect from poison nails attributes to smn hate as if it was the smn's DoT on the mob, because I have experienced it was harder to shed hate off of me when I resummon another carbuncle,etc.

But then again I also think that a part of the hate gained from the summoner is gained a little everytime an avatar does a regular attack, BP,etc. I'm sure you know that with fighting/kiting mobs everytime the summon dies it becomes a little harder to shed hate even when you don't use assault on the mob after you(since avatar auto-aggros it from your hate).

Repeat summoning/kiting after a few avatars and it's more noticeable; what are your thoughts on that?

I have noticed that it does take longer for avatars to take hate off me with each resummon. I believe its more to the fact it takes longer for the avatar to build up its CE to surpass my own, or at least VE to keep the goblin's attention for a longer period of time.

Carbuncle takes less dmg from hits than I do (squishy smn i am!) So that makes me loose enmity faster than carbuncle itself. But each summon(and BP: Rage before it hits) if its within range of a mob's "cure aggro range", seems to generate more enmity thats harder to shed.

I'd do more testing for this, but this week is going to busy for me with farming, recap exp and ls events. I'll update with more results when I can, but this is a general observation from soloing.
