RDM/NIN Screenshots

I've seen alot of badly geared RDM/NINs, some thinking they are cool because they have the o-hat, scorpion harness, but still deck themselves out in INT earrings and rings, if your going to play RDM/NIN atleast gear it right. Its not about just having 2 swords and utsusemi like 98% of the RDM/NINs i've met.

However a RDM/NIN in my Dynamis-Linkshell has been the best geared RDM/NIN I've seen yet.

Ya, well it's kind of hard to set up with you being on Bahamut.

Actually, since I still have those seals, I could be NIN if I could ever do some BCNM's. That is if my luck improves.

It would be so nice having tier II enspells so we could focus on acc/dex/m.att instead of str/att for dmg. :cry:

Also, need Enspell dmg added to ws, specially multi-hit. :thumbsup:

BBQPlatinum is one of the better Linkshells of the Odin Server ( BBQ Platinum - A FFXI Linkshell on Odin server (http://www.bbqls.com) )

It's not that we lack DDs lol, its just I beleive Starfox(Manthra) just got his Morrigan's robe, i think most of that DD gear is from his 75SAM, but its still nice that you know he actually put an effort into DD Red Mage.

Most Red Mages i see meriting who insist on DDing always think its just two swords, an ohat/walmart turban and scorpion harness. Then you check their other gear and it just doesn't balance with the RDM DD setup (i.e electrum rings). Really, theres nothing WRONG with RDM DD, but if you really really insist on doing it then have the gear for it lol.

Yeah of course Starfox isn't going to parse up with the other DD's (There were Askar/Ares DRGs and Askar SAMs Adaberk WARs, etc) but you can't deny he put forth the effort (gear wise) to make it work.

Although the only gripe i have with RDM who want to melee is, ATLEAST still try to do your jobs as enfeeblers (slow II etc) Not that Starfox didn't, its just that i notice this about alot of front line RDMs, is they think they can just en-spell and whack at the mob without keeping up with the refresh/haste/enfeebling cycle.

Bu-bu-bu-but casting enfeebles takes time away from swinging your sword! :p (yes, I'm being sarcastic).

It continually amazes me how these people refuse to recognize that even with the best gear in the game, RDM is an extremely mediocre damage dealer. It has less to do with the weaponry/gears as it does available time. Casting spells eats up a large amount of time that you could normally spend attacking with a weapon, and with the RDM job the way it is (Refresh/Haste cycles, Dispel, Enfeebling, plus maybe cures) your probably putting in about half as much melee time compared to a dedicated DD, even disregarding issues about lower accuracy, lower skill, lower Strength, lower Attack scores, and weaker weaponskills.

I'd rather have an extra RDM/BLM than an extra RDM/NIN in Dynamis, that's all, because one is a crowd controller, while the other one is a ... well... RDM/NIN.

3 Bards, 6 Black Mages, and i think 3 Red Mages, not including Starfox, Starfox doesn't usually come to Dynamis as RDM, Mostly SAM/DNC (ftw), i think he just wanted to play with his new Morrigan's robe lol.

You use BLMs as crowd controllers? My Dynamis LS uses them as statue nukers when they are alive, and stepping stones when they are dead--about 50/50, I'd say.

Yeahhh my Dynamis LS does stuff I even question sometimes lol...but hey it works, and we are really really successful. I know Linkshells that can't even get past the Auction house with 40+ some people, we barely have a full alliance sometimes and we clean the zone of mobs lol. Probably because the LS has the best geared people on the freaking server, I don't think i've seen a Warrior without a Adaberk/Ridill lol. DRGs showing up in Askar/Homan, its crazy.

Our Main Puller is a WHM

Our Backup Puller is a RDM

Our Main Tank is a WAR

Our BACKUP Tank is a PLD

Yeah crazy stuff, but fun none the less, i dont even notice Statues sometimes the BLMs just light them up so fast, they are like freaking machines lol.

But yeah back to my OP, i was just showing that RDM/NIN can work, with the right gear, oh yeah they DEFINITLY won't be parsing up to the higher end DDs and yes Icemage they won't be as effective as they would be if they sat in the back with enfeebling/INT/whatever mage gear (im not gonna pretend to know what back line redmage gear is like lol).

But the point really is they CAN, but at the same time if you choose to, please do it right, meaning, player skill, the right gear,etc.

A prime example was a few weeks ago in my last Greater Colibri merit party the RDM came /nin with an o-hat, and a scorpion harness, and then like MP rings and gear that just didn't fit RDM/NIN, all he did was en-spell and whack at the mob, never had a refresh cycle, (there was me as BRD/RDM and a BLU/NIN and himself), and i don't even remember him using haste at all except for himself. He didn't even have /nin fully leveled, it was 75RDM/30NIN, so all he had was Utsusemi:Ichi, so you know he just subbed /ninja for "Dual wield onry" It was embaressing.

Thats my view on RDM/NIN melee: if you can do it right, if you have the gear, if you can still do your job, then by all means, but if you don't meet any of those Criteria and you think the only melee gear you should wear is the Scorpion harness then you just need to grab that /blm back out and sit wayyyyyyyyyyy in the back where you will remember to haste people :P
