Kinda random, and I know Vana'diel is not the world they are from. but I think it would be awesome if Viera were a playable race in the game. I'd eat that up
Vieiras are my favourite thing in the world!
Would anyone else think this is neat? Post any other Final Fantasy races that you would like to play as also!

No. Absolutely not. It would make no sense in the context of the game.

It would be somewhat interesting to see SE add beastmen as playable, and make PVP versus regular players, but it would require such a radically different method of gameplay and story that it would basically need it's own client, music, storyline, cutscenes, and so on. It would be cool, but given the amount of energy it would need totally not worth it.

Kinda like in WoW with the good and the bad guys. I like that idea. Even though I despise WoW

Bunny girls never need any proper reason to be there. That is the advantage of the bunny girl.

That being said, I'd so make a bunny girl, mainly cuz they're even sexier than catgirls, which is an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish to begin with.

Also, I've always thought that if SE really wanted to do true PvP, then they'd have to open up the Beastmen as playable. That also being said, I know that'd never happen, so I just enjoy a good Ballista game or two.

They're called Vieras by the way, not Veiras. I before E, except after C!

You guys would really make this much of a fuss if Vieras were included? It was just a what if question. lol you guys made me feel bad now...

Bunny and cat girls are old & busted.

New hotness: Guinea Pig girls.

Fuss?

I'd want them around. If I'm gonna be staring at a character for hours, days, years, whatever on end, she's gonna look pretty damn hawt, or it's just not gonna happen. Only real reason why I can stand to spend a lot of time staring at the screen, really. :P

The other guys? I dunno, that's all them, but that's my reason for wanting them in the game. I say bring them on.

Y'know, going the other way, if they made a single-player RPG where you got to play through part of the story line as Beastmen, I would be all up ons.

Also, get rid of all this other cruft and just make an all-moogle MMO.

It would make no sense, and SERIOUSLY screw up the storyline, balancing, and just piss a lot of people off.

Try playing FFXI. It's pretty self-explanatory. FFXI cannot just casually toss in an entirely new race.

Long story short, Altana got a bit weepy over Promathia laying down the law on the Zilart, dropped 5 tears on Vana, bam, the 5 races. No 6th tear or anything, so no chance of any new races, thus, any new ones that are intro'd? Mess up the storyline.

As for the pissed off players? That's just Febaspeak for "I don't want it in 'my' game" or something equally anal and anti-social. That can be safely ignored. ;)

Indeed, embed code from YouTube doesn't make much sense. Try inserting the link into some text instead.

StarvingArtist...what the fuck is that? Like, is that fan-made or...? (Hint, I've never played MGS2 or 3 and I've only seen other people play parts of MGS1.)

I still don't understand how adding them would mess up a game. Though I am a new player, so I suppose I can't argue.
Thats a special mini game in MGS3, Snake VS Monkey.

Nope, that's official footage. Snake Eater has an extra mission where you're after the Monkeys from the Ape Escape series. The codec conversation is rather hilarious (my fave line: "Why don't you make Sam or Gabe do the job?").

Comedy gold there!

No, I didn't. I was over at a friend's place when I saw that. Laughed my ass off when I did, too. I should go back and get it so I can see them.

Try playing FFXI. It's pretty self-explanatory. FFXI cannot just casually toss in an entirely new race.

Acctually that is not entirely true, and pretty easily done in terms of story line. Its almost as easy as throwing in a new job and backing the story for it as they did with ToA,Wotg jobs mosre recently.

For example, who's to say anther race didnt evolve in a far off corner of vana'diel. Like possibly the far eastern country that Aht Urghan is currently at war with. They dont believe in Altana, and there for dont believe in the 5 crystals representing each race. So backing a story that way for a new race would be fairly simple. Making a new story line for a city that is not involved in and around the shadow lord is pretty simple too. Following mission 6 they can simply say you have been taken on as a mercenary for investigation into Dynamis world to tie it in that way, a contact in the western island of Kazham(to tie it to the ZM's.

Or with the new areas in the past you can simply say it was a small civilization (the city in the opening video for FFXI) that was destroyed by the beastmen during the great crystal war. There many possible ways to tie in a new race if they so desired.

You wash up on the shore of some unknown land, you seek answers in the great, (insert town here), Not knowing where you are or where you came from, you begin the quest to find your past....

Except that in Vanadiel it's not just a matter of Altana being some goddess that the people made up to explain their own history. It's a fantasy world, and so the gods and goddesses are actual entities, not just legends.

Also, even if you ignore the lore, the game mechanics aspect would make a new race a pretty pointless addition.

Cait Sith could, like, accidentally send someone back in time who punches Altana in the nose until she cries a sixth tear.

That i dont disagree with, but saying its not possible is an outright lie.

Well, anything is possible in a fantasy world. But probable? Not when previously existing lore is taken into account.

but saying its not possible is an outright lie.

They could also change the Great Tree in Windurst into a giant star shaped building. But it wouldn't make any goddamn sense, and it would ruin so many different parts of the storyline that they might as well chuck it out the window.

Seriously, if you don't understand WHY this isn't possible, go do some reading on the history of Vana'diel. It's hard to explain new cities and areas. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to explain a new race. That 'city in the opening movie' has a very rich background story of it's own. It's been around for several years. The fact that you can't even identify it or the people in it should be plenty enough for you to consider your knowledge of the history of Vana'diel too poor to think about this.
