Ok blms, I was talking with a friend the other day about gear swapping. Then another blm jumped in the fray and the discussion was fast and furious! LOL One thing I noticed is that there seems to be no "standard" for gear swaps and each blm has his/her own opinion which leads to varied ideas. SO here is the HUGE part of it. What gear do you have? What pieces do you swap in and out and FOR WHAT SPELLS? In your opinion, what works best for you!?
One rule, to each their own! Do not belittle someones choice. Instead go out and try it if you haven't yet and see what your opinion is then. (i.e. NO FLAMING! :P )
I don't know how the situation is now, but back when I played the only thing that I really needed to swap was elemental staves. That was done simply enough with just the equipment menu.

Currently (Not including the obvious elemental staves) -
Sleep: Swap in Wizards Coat and Spider Torque
Elemental spells: Swap in Intellect Torque and Justaucorps
Only 64 BLM at the moment.
Oh, right, I did swap in and out AF pieces for enfeebles sometimes. Usually just had it on at the start of a fight, and took it off later.
Other than that, hMP I guess.

Oh the swapping discussion was loaded with suggestions. Of course, we were all lvl 75 so staves were a given. I just couldn't believe the amount of gear they lugged around just in case XXX spell was cast. I felt so under-equipped!
I had a few set when I played blm. magic damage gear for everyday nuking, resist gear for gods, enfeebling gear for something I really need to land spells like sleep on, and INT gear. Nothing specific, each one just go for the maximum amout of whatever the set is :S I made it that way because it's easy to understand for myself.

How much you tweak depends on what you do with your BLM, and whether or not you're ok with using Windower for macros (or simply are able to.) BLM is a very equip-swap intensive job if you want to play it optimally. Windower makes it much much easier.
Basic Make use of these while leveling up, or if BLM isn't your main and you enjoy having more inventory space.
Elemental Staves: These just go in the spell macro itself. I like to make them the first line so I can change staff by hitting an <st> spell macro and canceling.
Resting set: hMP and/or Refresh gear.
(Very basic, you need this.)
Elemental Set: Elemental Magic > INT & Magic Attack Bonus
(Very basic, you need this.)
INTenfeeble set: Enfeeble skill > INT
(You'd better have this for Sleep, Bind and Gravity.)
Advanced Less important stuff, and stuff for dedicated BLM.
Standing set: Black Cloak, Earth Staff, Sorcerer's Earring
(You want to be refreshed any time you are standing but not casting. Damage reduction stuff is a precaution but can help with some types of AoE. If you're lucky and have Herald's Gaiters, throw those in there too and it becomes a kiting set.)
Max damage set: Magic Attack bonus > INT > Elemental Magic skill
(Mainly used for low level stuff or with Elemental Seal.)
MNDenfeeble set: Enfeeble skill > MND
(This is really just stuff I already carry that happens to have MND on it.)
Dark set: Dark skill or Haste and Fast Cast. Not very important, but you should at least have AF pants.
Stoneskin set: Stuff I already carry that has MND on it, including Water Staff.
Sorcerer's Ring: If you have a sorcerer's ring you will want to mess around with HP/MP conversion gear until you can activate the latent at will, without dropping to yellow HP.
Ugalepih Pendant: Either leave it on full time or equip it manually whenever you think the latent will kick in.
Sea Obis, Relic Pants: Can be added to the macro every time you get weather and day effects lined up with a spell you want to cast.
Cure set: Light Staff, Refresh, -Enmity
(Sometimes you are the only one who can heal.)

If you have a question on any piece of gear, just ask. ^^
Healing: Standard HMP gear you know the typical pluto staff+errant etc
Nukes: Igqira Weskit+correct staff+Demon Helm+Errant Slops+INT Rings/earrings+moldy earring+Elemental Torque(bored yet?)+Penints rope+Rainbow cape+Wizards gloves (Im an elemental magic+ junky)
Enfeebs: all that except Enfeebling torque+Wizards Coat
Dark:Same as nuking but errant Hpl.(seems like my drk magic is really reliant on INT, anyone else get this?) and Wizards slops

I've never noticed INT or MAB having much effect on Drain & Aspir. Elvaan DRK used to out-do me on those spells consistently back when I did SC/MB parties.

I usually carry around a basic MAB/INT set, 3 Skill sets(Elemental, Dark and Enfeebling) +hMP, and a Black Cloak for running. In addition, I usually have my Soc. Tonban and the Elemental Obis I have obtained(Still working on the full set of these)
Sometimes I go without the skill sets(Unless it's sky) and element-day equips, but only if I need the space for farming or something.

Not that my post will be very useful but my gear is almost identical to olorin's with the exception of:
AF is still NQ :( (Don't get to do much Limbus)
Replace R Pumps with Yigit Crackows
For Stoneskin I use Kirin's Pole and Yigit turban
I use Igqira Head/Legs for enfeebs
and I am lazy on my Obi's... (Only have Thunder)
