View Full Version : Linkshell Etiquette?

So, my LS's fearless leader changed servers, and since then whenever I logged into the game, the LS was empty. Which is pretty strange, because usually there's a few people online, but now it's empty when I'm online.
This LS helped me do a lot of things, like the subjob quest, and with the teleport crystals etc. etc. But now that our LS leader left, and no one seems to be online, I'm seeing more and more of my former LSmates with new LinkShells.
I'm nearing level 50 now, and eventually I'm gonna need help with things like the limitbreak and stuff, so my question is, if I change LS will my former LS mates get angry at me for not staying around? Is this a rude thing to do, or just a natural thing to do? :worry:

Sort of hard to stay in a LS that doesn't exist anymore.

I wouldn't want to associate with anyone who'd get angry at me over that anyway. Not your fault the leader bailed.
I would start by asking around to see if you can join any of the linkshells they've joined, though.

I would talk to your friends and see where they ended up. If it looks like a good fit then go for it. No one will hold it against you if you move on.

This is the best advice. I personally am a shellholder for a social shell that I inherited, one that's been around for well over 4 years on Ramuh, however most of the members no longer play the game. I moved on to pursue endgame, and most of those who still played followed me to the endgame LS that I reside in. I still try to pop on now and then to see if anyone's on(which they usually aren't), I do feel kind of bad being a shellholder that is never in shell, but I did give every member pearlsacks in case they wanted to bring friends in.
At some point you do need to move on if you wish to go further in the game, just keep in touch with your friends and noone will have hard feelings.

Well, I don't think anyone should be mad for you leaving. It's not like they are around anyway. It's ok for you to seek help elsewhere.
By the way, I'm feeling noobish, but, what server are you on?

Unless you owed the LS something or the linkshell was trusting a certain item in your safekeeping (which usually does not happen until endgame linkshells anyway) if you want to leave a linkshell it is usually fine. IT didn't work out for you, nothing bad should be said. Some people may get mad if they helped you finish a mission and just left or something without paying it forward, but in this case I think your fine.

I've never felt bad about leaving a social shell, even if they've helped me out, chances are I've helped back. Sometimes you just don't fit with a group anymore.
I haven't had a linkshell in about three weeks, though, unless you count my endgame shells, which I really don't.

Is there enough cohesion among the remaining members to reform the LS?

Join a new shell, theres nothing wrong with keeping the old pearl and checking in every now and again to see if anyone is on. If after a month or so there is little or no action you can be guilt free in ditching it

Thanks a lot for the advice, everyone. :)
