With the addition of Campaign Battles in the WotG expanstion, I have found a great, low risk, and laid back way to lvl my pld.

I go to jugnar forest (s) as my pld/dnc and rack up around 3k an hour just doing aspir samba and special jig. I throw in some steps with it as well but i usually get about 1500 xp per battle. Reason for this is that special jig is worth 10 xp per cast. It dosnt cost any tp and has a recast of 30 sec. In otherwords, in a 15 min C.B. you can cap off your buffs xp with out using any tp or mp.

Next, I always have aspir samba on so I can use my mp with out ever haveing to med and waste time. For example: I find a mob that isnt claimed and flash it. Then hit my aspir samba and start to beat that ass. With the high amounts of HP the mobs have, my main goal is to just stay alive. I use most of my mp casting cures on myself then when im around 100 left, i go to curing myslef with curing walts 1 and 2. The reason i want to just "stay alive" is to take as much damage as possible without dieing bc you get 10 points for every 100 damage taken and 10 points roughly for every 100 hp taken off the mob. After about 10 min on the same mob (who is hitting me for 30-70 per hit), i usually have about 600-800 xp without really doing anything.

Just remember to keep aspir samba on and rotate your normal pld abilities such as rampart and sent. along with flash. The main reasons I do C.B. instead of partying is that 1.) I dont waste time seeking in midafternoons when nobody is playing. 2.) I dont show up to a party who disbands 30 min into you arriving. 3.) NO MORE CRAPPY PARTYS. 4.) I can craft, grab something to eat, realx, and not have and stress about keeping myself alive or worry about hate issues. and 5.) NO XP LOSS ON DEATH. So i dont get a penalty for getting oned when the whm or rdm choose not to back up cure me.

I have lvled my pld from 63-68 in a couple days without really going die hard about the whole thing. I Hope this helps you other PLD's out there when you get feed up with constant issues you may recive.

PS: 3640 is my record for 1 C.B.
PSS: You can use the A.N. you also get from the C.B. to spend on the items and sell in the AH for a good profit. ( Iron Ram Pants... cost: 7k in A.N. but I get 30k in gil)

my rdm is only 14 so im not sure but let me run some numbers and see.
10% of a cure: cap of 500
20xp for a buff on you: cap 150
10xp per buff on npc/other char: cap 300
15xp per debuff that lands: cap 300
20xp per buff song x members: cap 300

aka
5000 in cures
7 buffs on you
30 buffs on others
20 debuffs
15 songs

looking at 1550 for curing buffing and debuffing on a rdm/brd. Thats what id do i guess.

again, im no mage though

Amberly

Do me a favor and make sure you actually tank something (you know, hold hate off of someone else) every 5 levels or so... The fact that one could feasibly level the last half of their career w/out ever actually doing their job is a bit scary. But ehh, most of us haven't done our jobs in 2 years anyway.

Only problem is you'll be lacking in shield skill/sword skill unless you have them already leveled from another job.

Shouldn't really half-ass the job, not saying you are, just saying that if your gonna lvl a job do it right, im guilty of it to, i brought Dancer from 52-61 beating up on a fortification in Garlaige[S].

In between campaigns you should still go out and exp so you still know how to play the Paladin job.

It will be a rude awakening when you start tanking higher-end mobs and not knowing what to do because all you did was whack away at mobs in Jugner forest the last half of your paladin career. It is very very very hard to skill shield after 75 Paladin.

Ya, i never said "you never ever have to party with complete retards again!". But I still perfer it over a normal party any day of the week. I do continue to get a party or 2 ever couple lvls or so for skill up and to keep fresh on how to manage hate between dumbasses. But the parties I get only full my desire to stay in jugnar forest (s).

Again, i agree with what your saying about keeping in touch with you inner pld party but its a great alternative when you get pissed at bad players and parties.

Oh yeah i hear you, i remember in Aydeewa Subttereane once there was a Dark Knight who insisted on SATAing the bard with like a 300TP souleater last resort guilltone each time.

Is that the kind of dumbass ur talking about? lol cuz then id do campaign forever if i keep meeting people like that.

I'm just glad I got to learn how to play and leveled up PLD and RDM before Aht Urgan and WotG.

This sounds nice though, but I'm really starting to miss old school parties. :wasted:

Amen. Bibiki Bay anyone?

Not bashing on the "old school parties" or anything, but the one time I had a party move from the mire to Bibiki bay to fight dhalmels and goblins, my expwatch went from ~7.5k/hr to ~2.5k/hr. I found a replacement after about an hour.

Campaign Battle is nice, indeed. Hell, I went from 22k tnl to lvl 71 in just a few days. Nice, but no skill ups makes me a sad PLD. My divine magic has been capped before I level since I was around 65. Sword almost always caps before I level, and shield... Well any kind of skill up on shield is welcome. I like CB, but after 70+, you tend to enjoy the 7-10k/hr exp parties over the 3000k exp every hour or 2 from CB. Campaign is a lot better as a supplement for EXP. Example: I went from 1,200/34,000 to 24,000/34,000 in one good party, and then used Campaign to ding 72.

I agree that it doesn't compare to an actual XP party, it's very nice for doing what the OP stated and tacking a bit on at your lesiure. I'm usually tied up in linkshell events until 9-10pm at night, by the time we're out I don't have enough time to join a proper party before bed, so it's wonderful for being able to restore some buffer or finish a merit point whenever I want to hop into one.

I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a way to actually level a job in proper parties, but I'm very glad they added a way to get supplemental XP, even while you're flagged up, and it has to be even nicer for PLDs.

One thing about Campaign Battle, though, is that unlike Besieged, attempting to tank in Campaign isn't a fool's errand. If you're capable of holding hate and surviving, doing so is a great boon for, say, any BLMs around. -- Pteryx

This is a very good point and I'm glad you brought that up. Campaign battles really are what Besieged should have been. Still, tanking isn't quite as controlled.

However, my initial avalanche of fear was from...

Before elaborating, I thought the OP was saying they just signed up and stood around getting exp. Which prompted me to say that mainly to address anyone who does get exp that way. But anywho, thanks for the summary of how campaign's been going, Amberly.
