RDM RDM BLM vs MG

Thought I would share this wonderful buffer wrecking experience :)

RDM/NIN RDM/NIN BLM/WHM

Killed excess Detectors, RDM pulled MG with Bind and ran while BLM cast Thundaga 3 to one shot the slaves.

Except the RDM (me) didnt run fast enough and was raped (actually I went to hit my Kiting macro but forgot I was on the wrong pallete >.>)

RR'ed while BLM rested and other RDM Kited MG.

Now, I previously believed MG to spit out a slave every min or so, turns out its more like every 30s. With me weakened I couldnt 1 shot the slaves, left with 4% HP. BLM killed 5 or 5 slaves before we got Thundaga III > Stun > Thundaga 3

With no stun up, we were all dead.

Now, I think if I hadnt of died on the pull we would of been ok.

That's the set-up we usually use to trio MG, except the blm usually subs rdm. The main thing is to, of course, not die on the pull. Make sure the pulling rdm is completely geared for defense before pulling, with as much -dmg gear as possible as well as good defense food.


We have one rdm pull with a barspell to magic aggro them, and immediately the other rdm will grab MG. The blm hits all slaves with a Thundaga III to clear them, then all head to the room with the teleporter.


From there, it's a pretty simple fight. The rdm that pulled MG just kites it around the teleporter with standard bind/gravity/dot/nuke methods while the other rdm and blm stand on the teleporter taking out the slaves as they pop, alternating to keep MP up.


The rdm on MG needs to make sure to keep HP up as well as a fresh Stoneskin because it is very possible to eat a few Thundaga III's from MG. We've usually been able to avoid having the mages on the telepad hit with it, but the kiter isn't always as lucky, though, sometimes you can outrun it or have it stunned. It's not as powerful as Grations's, but can still make things interesting.
