View Full Version : Random PT invites
So I've gotten my BST up to 22 so far and I kid you not, I've gotten 2 PT invites out of the blue w/o my flag up. One was from the Dunes when I was in Inner Horutoto Ruins at 17ish, one was from Qufim when I was in B.Peninsula at 21. The funniest thing is I can't even use Jugs yet so I'd be completely gimp in Qufim.
Speaking of PTing I've been trying to find out what the best jugs to use are for a DD role in PT's from 23-75. Are they all pretty much the same other than their natural beast str/weaknesses, and when they cap? I can't find any real testing done on them.

Ramdom party invites do happen, even as BST. I had one for the dunes which I accepted, and one not to long ago, that I declined.
In my case, the Dunes pt invite was because the party needed a DD.....any DD actually. I can't say what the other pt was about. I didn't even ask. I was playing solo.
The best jug to use varies. I like my tigers and crabs... Neither of which ( IIRC ) have AoE TP moves. I'd hate to light off "Sic" in a pt atmosphere and have my jug pet do an AoE maneuver. ....that could be, well, bad. Sheep and bunnies have AoE, ...and unfortunately, I can't speak for the rest. I've yet to try them. On second thought, I did use lizards as well...but only one stack. I can't recall off hand exactly what do...fireball is it? hmm....
Pet caps are listed on the net somewhere. I've seen them around but can't access certain sites from a work environment.... Let google bring you light....
They all have AE moves it seems. Only the funguar and beetle have cone AE's.

even before jug pets bst are excellent dd's, just as long as you use/war or any other dd subjob. after jug pet's we get even better.

I've always wanted to try BST/WAR vs. BST/WHM. I was going to give that a shot early on in my BST'y career, but managed to pull a totally honest "Oops..." moment and forgot to change the sub job. >.>

Jug pets are weaker than same level tamed pets, but jugs have a new advantage-SNARL. You can safely use a weapon skill and grab hate from your jug, and use snarl to transfer it right back. All jugs have an AOE, tiger "roar" having the most range. It's great, if you know its coming and its usually about 50% of all sic attacks. I carry a stack of expendable jugs (rabbits) to use to get hate if my tamed pet dies before I can get in that last WS. or give me time to run to another pet.

"Before jug pets", /WAR hardly offers anything as a DD subjob. At BST22/WAR11, WAR subjob gives you Provoke and Defense Bonus. The only thing a WAR sub gives you at that level for DD is some boosting of base stats, which pretty much any other melee job will do just the same. Heck, even a mage support job won't be terribly different stat wise.
If you want to suggest a DD subjob before 23, you'd be far better off with /RNG (Accuracy bonus at level 20), Dark Knight (Attack bonus at level 20), or Dragoon (Attack bonus and Jump at level 20).
