The reason first time posters can;t post a URL is to protect the community from spammers and Gill sellers, soemthing we had many problems with in teh past.
For people to answer your question it may be worth you posting some computer specs i.e. graphics card and direct x version, computer spec i.e. processor, memory etc. whetehr you have the latest graphics drivers or not and which POL version you downloaded as I beleive vista has a different one to the XP one I have.

yeah lol sorry forgot the specs in my rush to re-do what i wrote 3 times :P
Processor: AMD sempron(tm) 3100+ 1.80Ghz
RAM: 767 mb
32-bit vista ultimute
/graphics card should be an ATI somthing, but vista wants it to be a NVIDA Geforce FX 5200
i might have downloaded the xp playonlineviewer, but i couldnt see why that would effect somthing in game like this, maybe lauching the game yeah, but not in :P
if trying to see wiether i can fix this before actually re-installing it, as that take forever.

And the graphics card and driver versions are ...
Direct X 10 i think too, but im not really sure what vista thinks its doing with the graphics card, becuase i know its an ATI
" Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
Total available graphics memory 255 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 128 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 127 MB
Display adapter driver version 7.14.10.9686
Primary monitor resolution 1280x720
DirectX version DirectX 9.0 or better
"
in game, its more like that the people are invisable rather than the graphics going mental.

Have you run teh vandiel benchmark? Also if vista can't recognise your graphics card, how old is your ATI card? It sounds like that may be the issue. Also running vista you have 768mb memory you need at least 1gb to run games minimum.

actually i think its a ATI radeon 9000, when me and my mate where tring to install the drivers for it, vista keet automatically installing drivers for the nvida, nor could we disable it doing so.
i mean i run things like HL2 and counter strike sourse, really well with utterly no problems :S
also if thats that program off the main site, to determine wiether your system is good enough then yes :P i have

When you figure out what you have come back and ask. You either do not have an ATI card like you think you do or you have 2 video cards (addon and an onboard) and you didn't install the ATI drivers and also somehow got lucky and plugged in the monitor to the right port. These drivers are not interchangeable. If Vista didn't know what it was it would identify it as Unknown VGA or Unknown VESA. An ATI card trying to use a nVidia driver would not display anything ever.

Google your motherboard and see if it has onboard graphics. If it does you need to disable it in bios, there are plenty of guides on the net if you google them.

It is a strange one, may I suggest you run the file check ability in POL, you could have a few corrupt DATS that need re downloading it will take 45 minutes but will take one thing out of the equation if it doesn;t come up with anything.

and like Mhurron said
dont forget to check to see if you have onboard video with your motherboard as well, that can cause so many problems when you have both on at once....

*sigh*, well i found out that my motherboard doesnt have on board video, so thats not it XD
i completly re-installed everything last night so iv made sure i have the vista POL and FFXI installed/updated with no hassle.
unfortunatly the problem is still there, now as i keep saying, i really can do everything in game other than target people becuase there not there, also i can talk with people in game, and they can see me.
it has to be somthing with the client or somthing surely?
i tweaked around with the config in game too, as in the char models displayed and so forth nothing brought around any success :(
is there a way for me to contact the playonline staff or somthing? cos if this doesnt work, i dont want to be paying for a game im unable to play.
