View Full Version : Macro's don't save?

I've edited my macros, and every time I come online they're different. For example in my last session I set book 2 to be all my BLM macros, and I had it all set up, and then logged out, turned off my xbox 360, and then came back online and that book was empty! and as if that's not enough, my White Mage Macro Book was okay, except that my Dia macro was replaced with JoinP!
Does anyone know what gives? AM I supposed to be doing something special to "save" macros?
you have to /logout or /shutdown and wait for it to completely finish for it to save properly. There could be some problem with your logout sequence for some reason, try using both /logout AND /shutdown to see if one works and another won't.
On PC(or is it ps2), I know that I need to scroll through an entire book to save my macros, so it's probably the same for the 360.

Did you hit the power switch to turn off your xBox 360 while online? Or typed /shutdown in game first?
On PCs and PS2, the game saves the macros when players zone or log off. If you don't actually zone or log off, FFXI wouldn't save the macros (such as when you d/c). Not sure how it behaves on xBox 360.

Well I logged out (On 360 you can press the start button to log off), but the problem could be I didn't 100% log out of play online (turned the system off at the FFXI main menu, after logging out of my character).
Thanks a lot. I'll try that next time I log out.

you have to /logout or /shutdown on 360, DCing will delete them, and i'm sure zoning works on 360 (i can't remember zoning and then DCing to lose my macro's but maybe that is just me)

Not really for the OP in this case since they are on 360, but for PC users experiencing this check the attributes and permissions under C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER -- I somehow in the process of transferring this from one computer to another had these all flag as Read-only, that will prevent macros (and any other character-specific settings besides bazaar comments) from updating. Under the general tab for Properties you can check on Read-only, and under the advanced button for security you can remove all specific permissions and make it inherit permissions from the parent directory. At least, that's how it works in Win2K, hopefully hasn't changed too much in XP.
