Well WOTG is now out and no 3rd job has been released. Diddnt they say in the 1up and other interviews 3 new jobs will be released like the other expansions? I hope they do release a new job in an update or something cause seriously, the jobs they released now look lame at best...

Cite your source. As far as I know, Square-Enix never promised three jobs.

Dancer at level 60 is quite fun to play and far from "lame" - this coming from a career mage.

Scholar is amusing as well, though perhaps it has more potential as a subjob than a main.

Well I never said they were bad, just not really the jobs alot were hoping for ie:
time mage/ geo(yes i know sch is kind of like geo but it really isnt the same thing) and something like mystic knight etc. The whole reason ive brought this up is because I keep hearing that there has been alot of hints by SE that make you assume that there might be a 3rd hidden job or one to be released in an update.

Time Mage was shot down by Sage Sundi at FanFest 2007. He said the job would be stupidly broken good cos of the way the game works. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Between that comment and SE saying how hard it was to make a class built to take hits and hold hate, it makes me wonder what they're smoking sometimes. Concept wise, both aren't that hard to do in a unique way, but maybe balancing the actual numbers might be a problem at first.

Regardless of that, I can honestly say, much like the last expansion I got no love for playing these new jobs.

And here I was hoping for Viking =(

Honestly, I don't see Time Mage, Geomancer (a job I liked), or Mystic Knight making it here.

For Time Mage, let's view some things. Red Mage's and White Mage's Haste effect gives 15% speed, Garuda's Hastega gives 15% speed (it used to be 10% but now 15%), Blue Mage's Refueling gives 10% speed, some equipment have Haste effects, an item called Spy's Drink gives 30% Haste, a Puppetmaster's Automaton can use Haste from an attachment, and Bard's March song is similar to Haste. The Slow spell has comes in many forms from other jobs as well, but I don't feel like mentioning them. Basically, Time Mage is understood to use "magic" or whatever you wanna call it based on time and I can't see it do more than what is already in this game.

Geomancer uses spells depending on it's natural surroundings. If a Geomancer is in a fire place, it will use fire magic. Although, most monsters will be resistant to fire magic in the area so a Geomancer's magic will be resisted.

Mystic Knight will simply conflict with Red Mage's en-spells.

Sorcerers, Magic Knights or Mystic Knight are warriors that can cast magic on their swords to perform attacks with the power of the spell for several rounds.

Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_character_classes.There's pretty much no way to read between the lines to get past the fact that Red Mages have a part of Mystic Knight inside them.

Yeah, nothing is impossible, they could even make a chocobo knight if they really wanted to. lol quite ironically when they mentioned new jobs the first thing I though was I hope they dont add scholar.... lmao, I thought that cause I just finished played FF3 for DS and scholar was the most useless boring job in the whole game lol. It will probably be better here though. But with the jobs they have now I have no intention of lvling them. Something like viking is needed alot more than a dancer, plus it would be pretty cool, even if it is a axe only war ripoff >.>

I must agree about feeling lackluster at the new jobs. I understand that both seem great, and have the potential to be awesome mains or subs, but I really feel quite disappointed in both. Neither is of any interest to me at all, but I, along with bri and Ziero seem to be in the minority here.

I hope people enjoy the jobs, I'm sure they will, but I won't be doing anything but laughing at the Dancers and watching Scholar's book animations the first..2 times I see them, and then no longer noticing as they become another WHM. :x

It's hard to tell what the new jobs are like right now. Really, have to wait until people hit 75 and experiment in all kinds of situations before we can tell.

So, the first endgame data should surface in about a week. Maybe a week and a half. BC fight reports in a few days, probably.

Well, Dancer was designed to be a frontline healer along with support features. For Scholar, you might be right. Although, this is the case for any job that has native MP and/or healing spells/abilities. After viewing it's job abilities as of now (in another post, I didn't), it could be a great sub for Whm, Blm, and Rdm.

On that note, if you have native healing spells, there shouldn't be too much problem being another WHM as you know what you're getting into. The Main problem is either being chosen to be a healer too much or being convinced into subbing whm because you know that's all they're gonna invite you for; moreover, you knowing nothin else would help for your sub except whm. Basically, it's like seeing your sub as more importance than your main acting as this: Sub/main

Well I understand, and I hope Scholar becomes a bad ass sub, I'd love to see crazy spells turn into -aga's, not to mention say...Phalanxaga II? lol that's a mouthful btw. I'm not sure what level that JA was, but that'd be pretty awesome, at least I'm sure I'd see it used quite a bit. And I think it might be overpowered, but yea.

I understand how cool Dancer is as well, and it seems, honestly, like it could be an awesome support, and hopefully if not as much as COR's, help contribute damage to a party.

All I'm really saying is that I'm personally disappointed, I wanted much more, but that's because of my preferences, I just feel sad that there is, yet again, no new job that I have any desire to play. Well I want to play COR, but that's 1/5 of "new" jobs.

I think there are quite a few people who feel this way, myself included. Mostly because there was so much hype and talk about it without SE saying anything to tone it down. Both in regards to the number of jobs that were introduced as well as the job "classes". Personally I think it would have been better if SE implemented at least 1 of the more popular/asked for jobs instead of completely deciding what they themselves wanted and act accordingly. Suprise jobs which noone anticipates is great, there should always be some "woah I never thought of that" moments, but at the same time I think a balance between those moments and some moments actually living up to what people expect is needed.
Like I said, I think the problem here is a mix of both SE waiting too long before getting us any information(they always do hehe) letting rumours flow freely basically and also ONLY releasing "suprise" jobs. I mean peoples anticipations strongly influence ones feelings towards the end result. If you have your hopes too high you will get dissapointed even if the end result is good, and vice versa.

Dancer at level 60 is quite fun to play and far from "lame" - this coming from a career mage.

The game came out yesterday and you're already level 60? That's some serious FFing man.

They said there would be new jobs, specifying more than one but never gave a number.

I disagree. I was planning to use /SCH as a sub but after looking at the spells all the weather spells are too high to sub. I'd say its more useful now as a main than a sub.

People who attended the Fanfest got to play the job at lvl 60.

I'm just gonna pop in and say that, since I joined FFXI, Dancer was always brought up as one of the coolest potential jobs, and I know a large amount of people who have wanted it for a large amount of time. I'd definitely count Scholar as a WTF job, but I would say that Dancer was a well liked, well wanted job.

They're not going to release a third job. Even though I wanted to see three jobs myself; 20 is a nice even number. I got over my grief and got used to it. You should too.

Yes I have, I just dont like them.

Have you tried playing DNC or SCH yet? When I first saw DNC I hated it, but after reading up on their JA and such, I can't wait to try it out!
ic...Well I guess its still possible that another job will be released, I hope lol.

*sigh* Just because they released SMN later on, they won't do the same thing again in Wings. If another job gets released most likely it will be in the next expansion.
