Still getting charged.

I installed FF online a while ago and didnt play it for a long time at all, ive only just realised that im still being charged £8.99 for it, how do i stop being charged for this? i havent got the playonline program installed, or anything to do with it any more.

I'm guessing you didn't cancel your content IDs? Basically, you are going to have to install at least the POL viewer - from there you can get into the membership section and cancel it. Otherwise, I'm not sure if you can cancel it straight from your bank?

All this time I have been wanting to do that, but thinking I have to manually pay by card everytime...?

I never do that, it automatically bills me every month. The only time I have to do anything is if my card expires.

Every month, it says my ID's are about to expire and I have to piss around for 15 mins on their retardedly slow Content ID bit, choosing which ID's to renew, for how long and then reconfirm some digits on my card.

Uninstalling the software is not enough! You must tell SE that you no longer want their services, you're gonna have to reinstall POL like Kirsteena said and go through the proper cancelation process.

If you no longer have the original install media for POL Viewer, you can download it. Note, however, that the update process for the downloaded version is long, about 50 minutes for me when I downloaded the JP version, other versions might be less since there are some areas of POL that don't exist in them.

You'll need the particular version you created the account with.

Once you have POL Viewer installed and updated, go to the Final Fantasy XI page, and the Content ID section of the menu. Select Cancel ID. You will need to reenter your POL password at this point. An informational page will talk about the charges associated with content IDs. Click Next. Click on the box next to each content ID (you probably only have one) to check it, then click Next. You'll be asked to verify the content IDs are to be cancelled. ...this is as far as I'm planning to go for reporting on process, but I presume the rest is pretty straightforward. The main this is you do not need to cancel your POL account, and you should not, as doing so will require you to re-purchase the game should you ever change your mind on it.
