View Full Version : MogHouse Window™Will we ever be able to listen to shouts in the area from inside MH?

My reasoning on this is that specially in the main cities (Aht Urgan and Jeuno) the main reason I stay out of my MH contributing to area lag (and not inside my Mog House) is that I want to listen to shouts in case something interesting comes up.
If I could just "open the window" and listen to the shouts from the outside I'd remain inside my MH most of my iddle time, reducing lag in the area in the process.
Now, this is under the asumption that people inside their MHs doesn't affect the area's workload as much, if you do regardless then this feature would be kinda pointless but still welcomed.
Edit > Although the open Mog House article does indeed mention that players inside their MH do reduce the workload from and to the server.
-----------
Any thoughts?

Well I'm all for it, hell, I would spend more time in my Mog House as well if I could hear shouts, especially when I'm bored.

The article makes it sound like that was a design objective. Though I don't know well they actually met that objective. While I'm in the Mog House, the game still considers me to be in the zone that I entered the Mog House from. If I enter my Mog House from Whitegate, I will often feel the slow down as a result when I try to access my delivery box or transfer items to my Mog Safe and Mog Locker. If I instead enter from Al Zhabi, I encounter far less lag.

It seems like a good suggestion, but this is the forum for questions.

Yeah I kinda had my doubts about that (hence what I said at the end before the edit) but the wording they used implies that even though you don't "dissapear" from the area when you enter your mog house there's a real decrease in server/client load doing so.
And considering you don't get information about other player's movement, model swapping and others I think is safe to asume it is true.

I did put MogHouse Window™ in the title and explained what I was talking about, but the question still is:
Will we ever be able to listen to shouts in the area from inside the MH? ( ^^)b

It's possible, it's handy, it sounds good, doesn't bother anyone who doesn't like the idea of it. Got my vote!

I personally go into my moghouse to get away from the countless useless shouts that go on. Who cares if you put a spider web on the A.H....
. If you stay away from the A.H or the Mog house entrance you wont add to the lag...

Well, since you asked, you could accidentally wander in on a couple of cyberers.

I'd rather have chat channels you can join from anywhere. Or at least from all areas within a region. But yeah, this would be very nice too.

I would hope nobody would be cybering over /shout for very long.
Unless they were really good at it.

This is old post, but the main reason why I go inside a Mog house, is so I "don't" have to listen to the shouts.

-shrugs- If you want to get away you can just turn the chat filter on, but for those that do want it, well they're out of luck.
