I've reached lv 22 and can now start using bullets. What food should I eat at these lower levels, and should I switch to other foods after reaching certain levels? Before lv22 I had been melee'ing with sword and mithkabob.
Also, is it possible to change the font color for buffs wearing off? My current font color for that and party damage to mobs is white, so sometimes I miss when phantom rolls wear off on the mages. I don't want to filter out dmg to mobs. =(
Thanks in advance.

I would recommend Flounder Meuniere which is a 3hr food that gives you:
* Dexterity +6
* Mind -1
* Ranged Accuracy +15
* Ranged Attack +14% (Cap: 25@178 Base Ranged Attack)
* Enmity -3
Since you'll want to switch to guns almost exclusively from now on (with daggers that give +r.acc), this food really rocks. Keep on meleeing though for TP gain between shots.
I'm not sure when exactly its better to switch to Squid Sushi, probably around lvl 45ish for COR.
Good idea on the font colour thing, I'm also interested in doing that now.

I don't know much about RACC/RATT food so I'll leave that to others.
There is not a way that I know of to change the color of the font of buffs wearing off. You can however change almost everything else. If you change everything else to various different colors it's easier to pick out when your buffs wear off.
Also, are you looking at just your damage, or everyone's damage? Personally when playing a DD role, I'll just look at everyones damage for a few fights to get a feel of where we each stand, then turn off party damage and just look at mine. If I'm playing support though, I'll turn mine off as well just to clear up the chat log.
You could have it display damage on screen instead of the log.
Menu >> Config. >> Misc. >> First option lets you choose where to display damage. This way I can see my damage if I'm looking for it, but it's not flooding my log.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I've changed the font colors for "HP/MP others lose", npc conversations, and /say from white. Hopefully in my next PT it'll be easier to notice buffs wearing off.
As for Flounder Menuiere, is there a 30-minutes version of it? ^^; There are usually more deaths in lower lvl PT (e.g. Qufim at night, gobs in khazam). After looking around the web some more, I found this guide on food effects: http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/food.php#Ranged_Attack
I think I'll try Rice Dumpling or Dhalmel Pie for now, and switch at lv50+.

3 hour foods in my opinion are always a gamble. Sometimes they're cheap though so not much lost if you do die.
Personally I always use a 30 minute or 1 hr food unless I know for sure they I'll be exping for 3 hours and have a low risk of death.

Flounder Meuniere its a nice food to use for this stretch of levels, food effects can always be removed by the taru outside the Merry Minstrel in Lower Jeuno or in the hostel in Whitegate. This particular food is generally cheap and well worth the gil, though when you get Quick Draw, I'd suggest moving on to Squid Sushi for the AGI and Ranged Accuracy.
I don't think there is a font color change for buffs wearing off and, really, you shouldn't need one since you have dice icons in the status bar to let you see whether or not you have two buffs active already. Just keep a steady eye on the status bar and keep your buffs going at least once per minute.
However, i would consider tweaking your font colors to something noticeable in the "gains beneficial effects" and "detrimental effects" section. This will allow you to see when a mob buffs itself and when allies enfeeble, allowing you do more easily decide which Quick Draw you should use when that information scrolls through.

Most of the chat log is filled with damage done by players during exp'ing. If you change those to a light gray, you can keep them on screen in case you want to see them, but other stuff would stand out more (especially if you follow BBQ's advice).
