W00rt on first thread, first post in the section!
Time for all the nerd/schoolgirl references to spawn until we have real info! I'm still rootin' for Time Mage, but it might be at an alternate location other than Sandy (mebbie Jeuno?).
All I know is Mithra + miniskirts = WIN!
EDIT: I'mma go ahead and say the internet already clocked in the first, ahem... "questionable content" fan images of the female version of the Scholar AF in about less than 3 minutes upon release of the first official screenshots. I'll bank to say it'll make its way to Neko-sentai within 5 minutes after that. Any takers? lol

I'm looking foward to it , as long as we don't have Harry Potters running around everywhere.

I am ambivalent about schoolgirls, but I am excited for how adorable taru will be in Scholar AF.

For a second I thought Lilith meant they were comic sketches (http://www.questionablecontent.net/index.php) by Jeph Jacques. Sad face.

Indeed, why is either post in this thread?

why not nag on the post before mine aswel then? In the context of the thread topic, that one made sense. (Cat girl in school uniform; kind of an anime thing.)
Anyway, the Odin sub-forum (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/odin-79/) is where that post of yours belongs. ^_^

Quoted for relevance to me. ( If I had just said "Quoted for truth," that'd be like saying "Murphie's definately ambivalent about schoolgirls, etcetera." )
This may be the job that steals me away from Red Mage. Seriously.
(Though, depending on the exact specs of the job, I'd probably either use it as a sub for Red Mage, or sub Paladin to it . . . once I get the dang job unlocked. I suck at leveling up, seriously. This includes in parties. And in just about every game outside of FFXI as well, so I think it's just a problem on my end . . . aw, dangit, I threw a whole tangent in to these parentheses just to explain why I haven't gotten Paladin unlocked yet, when this was just going to be a short thing . . . I really need to learn to avoid tangets. I'ma gonna post this, anyways, because it'd feel like a waste if I didn't.)

I want to level this at least as a sub for my RDM. If I like how it plays and the role I end up using in it I'll probably go all the way sometime. -- Pteryx

Bookworms!
I am interested in trying this out at some stage -- If I decide I want to stick around. :)
These are not Schoolgirls.
These are women in miniskirts and thick leather jackets. Also known as hookers.
Sorry, but not even SE is that awesome.

And here was me thinking that SE had actually managed to make a librarian/school based type job without it reeking of hooker/Britney Spears. The brogues and mortar board desexified it for me but I guess I was discounting the power of anything knee high and a short skirt.

Cmon now.. if anything it's going to be more akin to anime schoolgirls.
Yay.. I get to dress up as Sailor Mercury!

Well, this is certainly turning out to be a good package: solid support abilities (themed after the Ivalice line of FF) coupled with an anime staple.
From what I'm reading about, it looks like Scholar will be the answer to the demand for Geomancer everyone's going on about (although it won't be the tank everyone was hoping it'd be), weather effects and all. The Grimores thing seems interesting, although I have a feeling it'll be more worthwhile as a main than sub. Usually anything that relies on JAs tend to be more powerful as a main.

I would have said the reverse: most spells are badly nerfed as a sub because of your lack of skill (the only real exceptions are healing, status cures, buffs with fixed effectiveness and Utsusemi). Only a few JAs are nerfed: meditate, SA, TA... I think that's it, actually. Jumps, berserk, provoke, defender, warcry, DS and ES, boost, last resort and souleater, hasso and seigan... all full power subbed.
So I wouldn't rule out the possibility that WHM/SCH will get useful boosts to their white magic out of White Grimoire, or BLM/SCH with Black Grimoire (both would still be able to change grimoires and throw some emergency sleeps/heals if necessary). Or RDM/SCH with both, switching between them the same way a full scholar does (but with refresh and convert too).

I was more thinking of this post
Because:
In the context of the thread topic, that one made sense. (Cat girl in school uniform; kind of an anime thing.)
The first post made mention of Mithra in mini-skirts, the post you quoted made mention of abandoning Tarus in favor of mithras. Ergo it makes sense that the poster who made a mithra, and posted about doing so in this topic, made said mithra in anticipation of lvling Scholar in an attempt to outfit her in the AF.
Or in other words, that poster wanted to be a cat girl in a mini skirt.
As for it's sub potential, SE clearly stated that this job would be an excellent sub for Whm and Blm. As we know now, each Grimoire doesn't just give access to spells, but rather enhances that entire *line* of spells. When under the effect of White Grimoire, all white magic based spells will gain reduced MP costs, enhanced casting speeds and increased potency. It's also possible to turn normally single target spells into AoEs...aka Hastega, possibly Refreshga. Black Magic spells also receive similar buffs when the Black Grimoire is in effect. As such, this is a perfect subjob for Whm and Blm...however it may not be as effective for Rdm.
Oh, and one more thing. Yes, the first 'questionable content' images of Scholar have been created and has made it's way to Neko-Sentai. It was estimated to have been created shortly under 24 hours after the initial images were seen, and yes, it is a Mithra

What job abilities/spells do you predict for Scholar? You think SE would throw in some Mediator, Calculator, or Engineer?
