Linkshell Party: COR75, RDM73, SAM73, DRG74; Are you interested?
Now assume you are a Lv75 melee job seeking for a party. Would you find it rude to be asked to join a mixed level party like this? Should I just make a Lv73 party? I'd be nice to party with my linkshell for once. Also should we go try to fight Greater Colibri or something else with Lv73-74 melee? My hitrate on those would probably be 80%+ with meat mithkabobs.
Thank you for your advice in advance.

I meripoed at 71 with 75's. Just the once, it was not much different to now tbh. Ok, it wasnt a burn party, but still a respectable 7-8k an hr.
I dont think there's anything wrong with 73-75.

The difference between merit and EXP parties is you get limit points instead of EXP points.
I really don't see what the problem is.

I really don't consider 2 levels difference to ever be a serious impediment, even for melees (who suffer much more from level imbalances than mages). As long as you aren't under the illusion that you can or should keep up in damage with a fully merited 75, you'll be fine.

for mages its not a big deal if youre a bit lower. melee i prefer 74-75 though.

I wouldn't really care if i had a lvl 71 person in the party. I usually only pt in the mire so we go through those mobs so fast it wouldn't matter.

Same here, when I leveled BRD I started joining 75~ parties at 71, and it didn't really affect XP in any noticeable way. Considering that everything you fight at that level is Very Tough to a 75, a 73 isn't really any different.

Thanks for your responses. I look forward to partying tonight after work. Luckily I still have 1 DEX = 1 ACC for my polearm build. I refrained from partying after the last patch to avoid the disappointment of having them reverse it. Now my massive DEX can do double duty and those +CRIT merits I will one day have won't go waisted.
I'll probably start by obtaining the Mamool Ja Staging Point and duoing a Sea Puk to see how I like them for XP. I remember back at Lv66ish when I broke 8k xp an hour (6k + 2k from ring) while "soloing" the Puks with Nonomii healing. SAM/RNG was massive. I hope SAM/WAR can be as good now.

Agreed it definately makes more of a difference to melee than mages though.

Imo, 73-75 range is acceptable, though honestly I do look for lvl 75s first. Lvl 75 to me can mean a lot, from someone who just hit 75 to someone with 100+ merits, so you never really know. The exp gap from 73-75 isnt all that big of a deal either. Though Ive been in a few parties with a mage @ 71/72, I usually stray from that myself.

Last night I had the pleasure of trying out a mixed level party against Lv79-83 Hilltrolls in the camp on the west side of Mount Zhayolm. We roamed around in a circle with plenty of spawns because we weren't killing very fast (Chain #5 only).
Here is the party Setup:
Lv75 PUP/WAR
Lv72 PUP/DRG
Lv73 SAM/WAR (Ryoii, Engetsuto 5-Hit)
Lv75 SAM/WAR (Hagun 6-Hit)
Lv75 DRK/SAM (Scythe and Great Sword)
Lv73 RDM/WHM (Nonomii)
The two PUP were taking care of 95% of the healing with Soulsoother Head. The RDM just kept up Haste, provided a needed Cure IV when HP got dangerously low, slept links, and refreshed the DRK. Third Eye was only needed when HP was below 50%, so we used Hasso extensively.
The Lv75 SAM and DRK were definately carrying the party as far as damage goes. My polearm build was stuggling against these enemies. I imagine the PUPs were also struggling to do good damage, but I enjoyed getting to PT with the PUP from my LS and try something different. I'll probably just go back to trioing until Lv75 since I get about the same XP and don't have to worry about how long I can party or if the XP is great.
Also I quickly gave up casting Haste on Ryoii since I was struggling to play both characters well. I did get better as the party progressed and at the end I was pulling with Ryoii and tanking with Seigan+Third Eye until someone pulled hate. That made me feel a little more helpful. Overall it was an interesting experience, but it was definately one of those parties I wish I could have parsed. I'd not be surprised to see the Lv75 SAM and DRK doing 70-80% of the damage. I hope they didn't mind trying something different. I did tell them about the party setup before we went, so I think they just wanted to get out and merit a little after the patch.
