I had GSword skill of 50 or so. I looked up some mob stats on the wiki, and I decided that being PLD, my best place to skill up would be Eldieme.

Let me say that the update has made the accuracy on this set up ridiculous.
As you can see, I tried to buy another woodsman, but since that didn't work, I just went with my tanking ring.
Which is funny, because when I equip a 2h weap, It becomes a Melee ring.. anyway.
Pretty much every hit landed, and the mobs weren't that tough. I don't foresee myself using GSword in exp, but since I'm a Johnny-Come-Lately PLD, I'll do some meleeing in Sky or Dynamis until it's time for me to jump in and replace someone.
Looks like fun! And I decided not to get any HQ Gswords or Grips, because the juice isn't worth the squeeze just for a skill up.
(I pted till like 2am this morning, and I still didn't level. I wanted to wear my Haubergeon so bad... I'm 1.3k tnl ; ; )
Oh, and i'm at 55 GSword after about 15minutes of whacking on the Hounds, which are the easiest mobs in there.
Last night Lv.5 or 6 Troll Merc Besieged rolled through just as I logged in. I figured it was a great chance to get some more Great Axe skills so I can have Steel Cyclone when my WAR gets there.
Grabbed my usual Acc get up for DRK, grabbed a crappy Lv.37 Great Axe and then headed out to Besieged. My first 15 swings I landed 13 of them with Lv.198 Skill, and after those 13 hits, I ended with Lv.202 Skill. I was getting .5 and .4 skill a pop. In the process of typing out to the LS that my Acc was awesome in Besieged and that I'd hit Lv.199, I got back to back .5s to give me Lv.200.
At this rate, I may be able to cap Great Axe for DRK in just two more Besieged. Two handed Acc needed some help, but this is over the top.
Last night I finally got a chance to Merit as DRK. I was in a party with another DRK (Who I've partied with in the past and is decked out in Abjuration and HNM gear), SAM, PLD/NIN, COR/BRD, and a WHM. After all my gear, and Chaos Rolls I had anywhere between 700 and 745 Atk as DRK/SAM. I toyed with a number of Scythe WS, 2nd DRK was doing Spinning, and the SAM Gekko. These two were doing insane WS damage, but my per hit damage was out doing them. I was averaging 250dmg a pop Vs. VT Greater Colibri and they were doing 150~210.
Eventually I settled on Cross Reaper that was usually quite awesome, but I did have a number of them that missed the first hit. So I'd do 1300+ on one, then 350 on the next one. Cross Reaper was way out doing Guillotine, but I have no idea what kind of accuracy I was getting on it. With the SAM in the party, the COR was doing SAM Roll, so I was getting like 21~25TP return a hit, making it rough trying to find what was 100% or just 2/4.

PLD Skill Caps (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Skill_Caps/Paladin)
Listed as Lv. reached, Sword, Staff/Club, Great Sword, Dagger, and then Polearm. ** denotes quested Weapon Skills actual Skill level to use. No way a PLD could actually do the Black Halo quest at Lv.67 obviously.
60 203 203 196 190 171 Vorpal Blade, Judgment, Full Swing
65 227 223 212 200 180 Swift Blade
67 235 231 218 204 184 Black Halo**, Retribution**
69 246 239 225 208 188 Spinning Slash
75 276 269 250 220 200 Ground Strike**I still find it odd that PLD get Spinning but neither of the Moon GS Weapon skills all while BLU doesn't get Swift Blade. Go figure.

Yeah, WAR doesn't get Swift Blade or Spinning Slash either. I'm guessing S-E did want us to have some sort of edge in the WS department (especially back in the pre-sushi days, when Acc was hard to get.)

Seems only fair that they be able to do Lv.3 Skillchain at that range with everybody else, or after their Quested WS able to do both Light & Darkness. I have no problem with giving them a Darkness WS at Lv.65 that does NOT allow them to solo Darkness, but at least give them something.

They can already participate in Lv.3 skillchains by making their own Lv.2 (which has the great side-effect of forming a 3-WS chain with just 2 people, making the closer do 150% damage) so they don't really need a WS to do that. However, while I am of the opinion that Swift Blade should stay PLD-exclusive, I wouldn't mind BLU getting an EX WS either.

A multi-hit WS with a decent TP mod that has 30% STR and MND WSCs...no, wouldn't be nice for RDM or anything...it's cool, we're OK with Burning Blade, really we are.../wrists

Group went on a Pallas and Alky farming run one night. BLU in the group, and his RDM finance. We tried a few configurations.
RDM Open, BLU links with a spell, I close with Spinning Slash. No noticeable difference.
BLU opens with WS, links spell, I close with Spinning Slash. No noticeable difference.

This was several months ago, so I don't have numbers, but the BLU was working on a latent and I mentioned the damage modifier but never saw it until we had 3 actual WS. I don't know if BLU's solo Skillchain has to go WS > Spell, or if it can also go the there way around, but as I recall we only tested with WS > Spell > Spinning Slash.
Personally I like the idea of giving BLU their own Lv.225 WS and leaving Swift Blade in the hands of PLD. (Though I do find it odd that PLD starts out with Darkness instead of Light skillchains.)

That's very odd, because I've partied with BLUs and self-skillchain to WS does do the 150% damage. I don't see why it would make any difference, but whatever.Personally I like the idea of giving BLU their own Lv.225 WS and leaving Swift Blade in the hands of PLD. (Though I do find it odd that PLD starts out with Darkness instead of Light skillchains.)Probably so we can get along with our good buddies the DRKs.

Hmm, I should log in just to try the new GS and Staff dmg out. I wonder if Retribution and Ground Strike are worth it now.

According to KI's PLD form section they are >.>
Anyways it's going to be toned down a bit I think soon so I'm just taking the oppurtunity to skillup my Staff and GS.

It did make it crazy easy to break latents though. Didn't need to recruit a tank because NIN & PLD are both on Darkness. Doing Great Sword latent was another issue.... I ended up soloing 90% of it. I think every time I enter the K. Tunnel the Robber Crabs all let out a groan. "Damn it... it's Odude again."
I'll have to see if I can retest the BLU damage. I think there's an LS O Hat run coming up, if I'm not stuck going RDM (Which I probably will) I'll go DRK and see how things fair.
Hmm, I should log in just to try the new GS and Staff dmg out. I wonder if Retribution and Ground Strike are worth it now.Friend in my LS took his PLD to Dynamis as a GS DD. He kept posting some pretty serious Ground Strike numbers, but said Spinning was more consistent. No clue about Staff damage though. I may take my SMN "mule" out and test out Staff damage. Bust off a 500dmg Spirit Taker would be RAWESOME!
As DRK, Ground Strike still seems teh suck to me, but part of that is I hate how Elvaans look with Ground. lol I'll just stick to Spinning, just can't wait to unlock this damn Subduer. 45/500 pts. YAY?

Speaking of skilling up. Where is a good spot to skillup after 200? I mean is there anywhere we can go solo? Cause finding pickup skillup PTs is kinda tough

Just started working on my Gsword with my DRK, it went from 14 to 60 in the course of a few hours whacking on mobs first in Kons. Highlands and then V. Dunes, followed by Buburimu Peninsula because Dunes were just too crowded.
Got it at 65 now and plan to take it XPing with me, 34 levels below cap but I'm still hitting ITs, it's insane but I'm not complaining so I can get the {Bastard sword} leveled.
