Took BST back for a spin last night. I wouldn't say my gear was up to spec, I still want to get a Hauby, viking shield and a sniper ring before I really get rolling on things again.

Used Sipahi Head, Body and Legs, BST AF hands and feet, Life Belt, that CHR badge, Sun Ring, Tamer's Ring and Fang earrings, too. Wrath Tabar and Strike Shield on Main and sub. Ate sole sushi.

AF in for charm, macro melee gear in after.

Now, I only went for about 1.5k EXP because I was really just seeing where I wanted to improve gear.

After the first fight, I Stay-ed a Robber Crab to watch the Regen, seems pretty spot on with what other have said about 1 to 3% regen per tick. Not amazing, but with Reward effects a nice cumalative bonus.

I haven't gone out farming on BST yet, so I can't comment on Jug duration, but I did notice something.

Both jug and charmed pets seem to have an increased Critical Hit Rate. I had one fight where my Robber Crab crit the other five times in a row, then I popped a CC when my crab died and Carrie was critting for 100+ a couple times.

Maybe its just in my head, but pets seem to do more damage and crit more often than before, though they still seem to be rather seem delicate on the HP.

Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with the changes. Not having to release pets for the full EXP is nice. Though there still seems to be a level penalty for charming a higher mob, the BST no longer takes a penalty on his own EXP for charming an EM.

Now if SE will just make some new jugs and uncap most of them, things will be even better. Adjusting zones so a few EMs are always available would also be nice. Hopefully, WotG will be scaled well enough to accomplish that.

Yea i hopped on the bandwaggon and got back to BST, its pretty much my next goal, to take it all the way. The exp thing is what made me go back to it.

That's because the game treats it as a higher level party member. Since it's higher than you, you get EXP based on it's level vs the mob and not yours. Oh well, so much for charming an IT Ram in La Theine and going nuts with Familiar > _ >

Come to think of it, I was noticing a higher crit rate from pets as well. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I've had to watch my playstyle afer the update....I tend to get a bit greedy. It's a habit that I'm trying to break. I figure that it's nothing that a couple of deaths won't cure. >.>

Has any one bothered to parse for exp yet? I'm gonna take some time playing w/ it this weekend and finding out what I can manage in the best of scenarios.

I was about to suggest sticking with Balance Buckler. And then I noticed Viking Shield is going for 180k-ish on Lakshmi. Now you've made me want to buy one :P

I don't know why so many people expected it to be any different. It was one part exp penalty, and one part exp adjustment. The penalty has been removed. The adjustment has stayed.

If SE had removed the adjustment, we'd be able to 2 hour an IT mob, and use it to roll over a bunch of EM mobs, and rake in some ridiculous exp.

That sounds a overboard. But then, so does 1 DEX = 1 accuracy for 2 handed weapons. hmmm...

One thing I did notice last night back on BST (37 now, re-ding +1) is that I felt more like the description of Bst that SE gives. I was actively helping my pet kill off my prey and then releasing them after the fight. As oppossed to hoping they die during it or ditching them at the end.

The biggest benefit of this update are for young beastmasters. No more ghetto release. No more struggling to make it to lv. 35.

Also it helps bsts that join PTs. Perhaps it might help with PTs but I doubt it. Player mentality is so engrained that it's pretty tough to change now.

I also went out on bst for a bit over in mire taking saplings to marsh murre. Regen is something. Not wonderful but its something.

Maybe one day i'll finish bst, just not now.

I was doing Mission 44 the other night and brought a couple of Sun Waters, thinking Amigo might do some extra damage. Didn't really see anything great, other than he only did needleshot and missed most of those. Also, Sun Water timer has NOT changed. He still only stays out for 20 mins.;;

i think they just mentioned they inc. the time some jugs last. nothing about strength.

I meant that an Amigo might be stronger than CC, nothing to do with the update.

However, they did mention jug pets would last longer, however, both AMigo and CourrierCarrie still have the same timer as before the update.
To me that just sucks.

i noticed that with crabs in general pre update, CC had 17-24%ish critical hit rate at the mire which is amazing and made up for it's crap tp moves ^^"

Now if SE will just make some new jugs and uncap most of them, things will be even better. Adjusting zones so a few EMs are always available would also be nice. Hopefully, WotG will be scaled well enough to accomplish that.
i don't see what's stoping them from uncaping all jugs...it would benefit both the bst and the crafter.
just uncap them all, give the NM jugs (HQ jugs) higher att/def rate than their NQ familliers.; ;

However, they did mention jug pets would last longer, however, both AMigo and CourrierCarrie still have the same timer as before the update.
To me that just sucks.
LifeDrinker Lars now gave 60min timer, alot easier ingredients to farm...and lower cooking skill required... :D
his TP moves are amazing, one being Slow+Gravity (Maybe Slow2 >.>) and most the others are DD'ing.

There actually is now some speculation that SE ninja-ed some of the jug pets to cap higher than they once did. This could explain why the critical hit rate is more notable for jug pets though it wouldn't explain why charmed pets have also seen an increase.

Is it wrong that I instantly thought "wtf, bestiality? In MY FFXIO?" when I saw this title?

My mind is so deep in the gutter...

I've only been able to play for short stretches since the update, usually no more than an hour or so. Because of that I've planted myself in a comfortable camp and just accepted the short xp from a string of DC's. I did notice immediately how much FASTER it seemed to go. Without having to Leave my pet and save TP for a finishing move, I could use a WS at any time. Instead of taking damage at the end of the fight I only had to med for MP at maybe one third the former rate. Instead of just hauling some fruit/milk/honey along to make au lait's as needed I'm adding enough fruit to make juice for MP as well, at least until I have time to devote to getting my Gaudy. I'm getting xp at roughly twice my former rate using charmed pets. I haven't had the opportunity to really use jugs, but I have seen an increase in critical hit rates from my charmed pets. If that's part of the update, then it's a nice addition making hate control even easier. :)

I knew it was a bad idea to check these forums again. Now I want to come back again haha.
