I heard a rumor that once you do the BCNM for the Black Coffin, you cant do it again (providing you've won) this sounds silly, any merit to this?

I don't think that's true, I'm pretty sure some of the helpers for the mission when I did it had done it already.

I know I have done it to help friends. However, you must pick up another gold coin (just hit the gravestone, you don't have to fight again).

There is a mission called the Black Coffin then there are assaults on the same ship starting with Scouting the Ash Talif (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Scouting_the_Ashu_Talif). These can be done once every 24 hours.
