So I'm new, I'm a lvl 15 WAR with basically my initial equip, few upgrades. I'm poor as hell, only have about 15k, which i know is crap. Really need new equipment to pt up. Anyone have any suggestions on where/what I should farm, or if I should fish to make money? ty

Starting zones. Really, the best places to farm are those where you can safely kill things fast.

BTW 15k is a good chunk at that level. Until about lvl 20 on my subjob, if I had 20k I felt I was doing quite well. 15k would give you plenty to have good gear at that level.

most of the gear/weap. at this lvl are about 7-9k each. and to get all new equip i need to buy at least 5, probably 6 pieces, including the weapon. so 15k def isn't gonna cut it. some guy went back to town and bought me all new stuff to borrow and said he spent 50k...

A lot of the gear you want is sold by NPC's at much less then AH prices (still somehow). I can go out and spend 50k on gear for jobs that low too but damn, it is not *needed* gear.

I also won't spend that much on a job that low either while at the same time not scrimping by gimped.

Buy from NPCs. You can get things far cheaper that way, and aren't paying ridiculous AH prices for low level gear.

Use Somepage (http://ffxi.somepage.com/) or FFXIcyclopedia (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Main_Page) to find the locations of vendors that sell the gear you need.

this may be a dumb question, but do you have to have a certain skill to be able to purchase items from guild-merchants? do i have to have a certain leathercraft skill to purchase from the Tanners' Guild Merchants?

No you don't. They're very nice NPC's and sell to everyone.

Some pieces of equipment are only sold when is nation is in 1st or second place in conquest though so if something is missing that will be why,

wiki knows all. What drops what questions are best found there.

RE: request to fight ghouls
Pretty much don't bother to ask to fight ghouls. They can be done if the party is 17-19 but undead mobs make horrible exp targets so most people won't even consider trying. Personally, I've taken 5 jobs through the dunes to a level where someone in the party needs the skull and only once did the party kill ghouls. It just doesn't make much sense to slow down everyones EXP to get one person something.

I am on Diabolos if you want to look me up, the name is Ruz. Usually I am on after 12am so late nights are my thing, I am also on during the weekend if you can't find anyone to help you by then.

ah, that is good to know, ty, although i dont think the difference in price should be too big for the things i'll be farming for now (silks, crystals, seeds, etc.), right? most of the prices i checked before were about the same as the sandy and windy houses...

Prices can fluctuate wildly depending on what AH you list them on. However 'can' does not mean it 'will.' What craft guild shops are in each city is usually a big influence on the cost of things on that cities AH.

go to guard at starting town , and collect crystals of low lvl monsters and sell stacks at the AH, its good money. also you dont really need that good armor wepon at that lvl, buy NPC items til about lvl 20-30, depending on how good you are. then at lvl 30 buy AH items as cheap as possible, the key is to save up as much as you can. so if you find a good item sell it on AH but dont put it on for cheap so it sells fast put it on for the normal price and wait a few days because you wont need money straight away if you stil buying NPC items !
