newb with a couple questions before I get game

Hey I am thinking about getting the game for the PC but I do have a couple questions

1.can my comp take the game with little to minimal lag even in wars and stuff?
1024 ram
pentium 4
3.2 ghz
Geforce FX5200


2. Do alot of people still play, like give me about how many people are on at any givin time?

3. I dont mind grind so long as there is more stuff to do than kill, isnt there mining, crafting, fishing?

4. I am buying the collection from best buy

will that have all the expansions so i am up to date?

4. yes and no, it will have all the expansions, you will not be up to date, you will still have several hours of updates to get all of the patches and free content that has been released since the Collection was mastered.

BTW, Mhurron's an ass, but at least you don't have to worry about being on the same server as him since he's got a whole server all to himself.

I thought this was one of his less snarky responses. Providing a link to the benchmark program shows more effort and good will than the typical "go find out on your own" responses.

I half expected someone to of replied with "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION".

A lot of people play, FFXI grows every day this is clear from it's yearly census.

Leveling is not the only thing to do, there are crafts, socializing, missions, quests but I have to admit more becomes open to you the higher level you are.

You will have all the expansions but quite a while to update, it shouldn't take overly long though and it's worth the wait in my opinion.

I personnally never see FFXI as a grinding game, at least you aren't killing boars for the 12123231 times. The game basically give variety of monster you could kill and these monster each have unique attacks but you will see people love to grind because you won't get away from the leveling killing prey, crab, fish, worm, birds and beetles! (then crawlers, which is my favorite because they are so cute)

by your specs, the game should run fine, but know this, we all get lag some where, besidged and Dynamus are two places where yu will get lag no matter what you do ;p

1. FFXI has pretty low system requirements. If I can get it running on an Athon XP 2000 with 768 megs of ram and a Geforce 4 TI4200(which is probabaly worse than what you have) then you'd be sure that you can run it.

2. in a word: Thousands. I will say depending on the server it may be hard to find low-level people at times(10-20 or so) since there are so many people obessed with Endgame...

3. Personnaly I only lvl with one gold in mind: the mission storylines!(Yes FFXI has some rather good backstories) The game is team-based so about lvl10-20 you'll be killing stuff with a group to lvl. and yes the three things you mentioed exist in game XD

4. Pretty much but a 4th expension is due out soon tiled "Wings of the Goddess". You will have to pull off some free online updates the first time you run the game tho...
