Apparently this was a real issue.
http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/forum/index.php?topic=482.0The website was under attack by hackers -__- we're currently trying to fix everything that was changed. Most of the files should be repaired except for the forum now.

oh man.... why cant people leave things alone -.-
Kailea: You do realize how many people they get every day, right? Do you realize that, even if it only lasts a week, and only half of their visitors aren't secure, they could still get a ton of FFXI accounts, or better yet a botnet? There's a lot of incentive to distribute viruses in pretty much any way possible.

So i was right, of course those first 3 who reply the message couldn't see that i did a typo on the link and obvious they are being jerks there. The thread is locked as soon i return and trying to reply as well.
Just so you know, this happen before in another MMORPG, and one of those trojan allow the hacker to Keylog information (passwords and key), which mean your account will be stolen. Don't complain when your character is found deleted.

So i was right
You weren't right if you did go to the wrong address as you indicated. The thread was rightfully closed based on the information you presented.

You know, if you get keylogged, you have alot more to worry about then a silly online game. But, then again, it depends on how much you use your gaming computer for personal stuff (I don't do business on my gaming rig, I have a laptop that I do business/school work on).

Seriously, do you just enjoy arguement or starting one?
No, the first 3 poster was saying that, but the last few people (mods) understand what i mean and they did look into it. The problem was they found nothing when they reach the site (one of them did, then it did not reoccur).
Beside posting something like this tarnish other's website reputation, it is wise to lock the threat right away.

The issue here is, no one verify this problem, this post was locked like 3 hour after i post. So i did a typo, people still unwillingly take it serious knowing exactly what i mean.
When i did the typo, that link i provded should be "No address is found" page. Yet half of these people insist that is the website that contain virus. While they know exactly in their heart, i was talking about the REAL website (knowing it was a typo). Hence, the problem here is "No one taking threats seriously, and they are misguiding others and diverge the problem away".
Now imagine, if this was actually a REAL threat, let say if FFxionline was infected by hecker and implanted a trojan that steal people account. Because of these people, many who did not install protection program would become infected and resulting loss of thousands of accounts.
Its something people should become more aware, even on these part of the forum, let's not become the victim of the issue because of some people's foolishness.
It might tarnish the website owner's reputation but should i leave these people being clueless step right into a trap?
And you mind wonder, why i am so work up on this, because it happened before. In Asheron's call, this exactly happened.

Although, you didn't type the address correctly not once, but twice (in the title and on the link), so it was safe to asume you just went to the wrong site by mistake.
Also, who would click on a link to go to a bogus site just to see if they would get a trojan? Regardless of what happened to ffxi-atlas the OP was wrong and that link needed to be removed anyway.
So I was right! Mwahahahaha.

Actually, it wouldn't be a "no address is found", because there is indeed a web site at the address "ffxi-altas.com". Plenty of web sites out there register domain names that are simply misspellings of existing web sites. They're hoping to receive traffic to their web site from people who mistype the URL they are trying to reach.
When I pulled up the web site, I didn't receive any virus warnings. But then, maybe it's because I'm using FireFox and not IE. I also tried going to ffxi-atlas right after this was posted, but before the thread was closed, and I don't remember getting any virus warnings.
Because of these people, many who did not install protection program would become infected and resulting loss of thousands of accounts.
And they deserve what's coming to them anyway, really.

This is really a pointless arguement. For whatever reason the OP was disregarded. It turned out to be a real problem but it's fixed now. That's really as much as the thread needs to say. Relocked.
