So I've finally finished building my new PC after 2 yrs of needed a new one! I want to play FFXI really bad, but at the same time I don't due to the low lvl grouping issues ever more present with population dropping! [I hear this from friends still playing]
Anyway I also built my new PC with Vista Ultimate 32bit. I've read several much older posts about issues getting FFXI to work on Vista. Is this still an issue or is there a way around it?
Ran the FFXI Benchmark 3 on my old PC again to see what my scores were then:
Low: 4366
High: 2031
Then I ran the benchmark on my new PC:
Low: 9762
High: 7234
I really like my new PC, but I'm still deciding if I should return to FFXI or not! Can someone please tell me is it'll run in Vista yet, or am I stuck not being able to play!?

Sorry, but your friends don't really know what they are talking about.
The population of players has been hovering around 500,000 for years (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/news-ffxi/67197-official-wings-goddess-e3-2007-thread-26.html?highlight=population#post709651). There has not been any large increase or decrease I know of. There are MORE players with Lv.11-50 jobs than two years ago (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/ask-squareenix-questions/65877-whats-being-done-about-blm-tanks-5.html?highlight=population#post704388), though maybe fewer of them are seeking.
Past expansion packs probably each caused a minor spike in population, and a large (but temporary) increase in the number of players leveling in the lower ranges on newly introduced jobs. (Well, CoP made a lot of people level RNG, SMN and maybe WAR, even though it didn't introduce any jobs.)
We're getting a new expansion pack this November (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/altana/index.html); you'll find plenty of people to party with soon enough.

Have you check the Playonline (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml) website for Vista compatibility info? If it's anywhere, it must be there...

Oops, totally forgot to check PlayOnline. There are still some small issues, but looks like it will work. Seems there is a Vista version of POL to use! Now to decide if I wanna return!?!?

You don't. You will hate yourself.
Also, FFXI only comes bundled with back-door trojans and other tasty mal-ware. Don't want that, do ya?

No, it just doesn't come with enough hours in a day.

Man I just hope time mage has the ability to extend days to 36 hours so I can play on weekdays.
