View Full Version : Haste Question

I have a feeling I know the answer but I thought I would double check.

When Haste (or indeed, March) is casted, does the % of Haste come and go with gear swaps, or does it take the % of Haste the moment the spell lands and sticks at that even if you unequip all Haste gear?

Haste is +15% if you hvae +5% from the w. turbine you would still get +15% i dont know the % of marches

Ok, maybe that just didnt make sense to me.

If Haste gave +15% and W. Turban gave +5% why the hell would you not get +20% Haste?

The question I am asking is, if someone has their Haste gear on, and say it gave +10% Haste for arguments sake.

That would mean, on successful casting, he would have +25% (if Haste alone is 15%).

If he were to then unequip all his haste gear, would his haste % be dropped, or would it remain?

i ment haste would still give +15%, it would drop back to the normal 15%

I'm not sure I know what you're asking so I'll just make sure of some things that you maybe already know.

-If you're wearing a piece of gear with Haste+3%, you always attack and cast spells 3% faster. It doesn't just improve what Haste is cast on you. Thus, said character getting Haste cast on them gets 18% Haste.

-Haste effects seem to be calculated once and only once. If I start casting Utsusemi: Ichi (30 second recast) and right after I finish casting, Haste lands on me, I still have a full 30 seconds 'til it's ready again. However, if Haste completes before Utsu does then you'd get the haste-modified value. So I can say quite certainly that if I were to equip a turban after casting Utsu, my timer wouldn't magically drop. However, taking away Haste could be quite different. In fact, I'd like to see some Slow testing, as I have a feeling that getting slowed immediately adds to all recast timers not currently 0. But that could be wrong.

Oh wait, I'm dumb.

People /equip on Haste gear for a reason. As long as it's on at the time you complete the spell, it'll get full effect.

Not trying to derail, not sure I actually am derailing to be honest but reading this and then something I think Amele said about hasting order somewhere else has made me wonder if I have the wrong end of the stick with haste.

I have been assuming that:

1. Haste is -15% on weapon delay, and spell/summoning/ninjutsu recasting time but does nothing to JAs or spell casting times.

2. Haste effect has a cap (supposedly 70% for melee attacks and 50% for recast timers) and any fast cast job traits contribute to that 50% recast cap (I can't check that because the wiki page on fast cast is stubbornly refusing to appear in anything but spanish )

3. You can put on haste gear on, cast a spell, take the haste gear off and retain the full haste effect on the recast timer for that spell because it's only calculated once at the point the spell is cast.

4. Haste and march are amplified by haste gear so if a melee put on +20% haste gear, you then cast haste on them (at which point they have 38% haste) and they then took off their haste gear then they would still have 18% haste instead of 15%.

I think 1-3 are right but really not sure about 4?

I've heard of a 80% cap for weapon delay

Haste is a flat 15%. It does not change if you add or remove Haste+ gear. It will always be 15%.

I have +19% haste in gear, I get Haste cast on me I have 34% Haste. I take off my Haste gear to WS, I still have 15% Haste. I put teh Haste gear back on, I have 34% Haste again.

Marchx2 is 20% Haste I believe.

That pretty much answered my question to full effect.

One other thing I learnt is I thought +haste% gear only came into effect IF YOU HAD HASTE ON YOU.

This is now debunked, thanks.

Surly there arn't bards that gimp it up that much that they don't have thier appropriate instruments for common songs?!

But there's another instrument too...Gjallarhorn (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Gjallarhorn)

Thanks Tokitoki :)

Thanks for the link Itazura but that's the URL I was using, it's still in Spanish for me. Any link I click on in the page sends me somewhere weird too. Some of the gear hyperlinks send me to english edit pages and things like that.

 How did you do that? It's always been the same old boring English for me.

Yes you would need the appropriate Instrument, but I would hope a BRD has them, especially at merit levels!

And Gjallarhorn isn't exactly the easiest thing to get :p

>< I have no idea, noted down to do some scanning this evening.

I'd normally say it was me managing to be stupid somewhere but I had tried a few different ways of getting to the same page, including your link and same problem so pretty sure it's not me this time.

It links to spanish for me too, or when I go to the main page and search fast cast its giving me spanish. Very odd.

It doesn't do it to every page, so every now and then.

I thought I was the only person who experienced a problem like this: the Silence (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Silence) page refuses to appear in anything but French in my computer, unless I view it in either German or Japenese.

Multiple Language Glitch? Cut-and-Paste form of vandalism? I have no idea, but at least I know I'm not the only one.

(By the way, I tried the link to Fast Cast also: it allso shows in Spanish for me for some reason. I don't even know why FFXIclopedia's in Spanish, anyways, considering the game isn't. Which is sad, considering it's the only other language I know, meaning I can't use that nifty Multi-lingual option.)

Meh I can read the French, but I only had 1 year of Spanish which basically amounts to nothing.
