View Full Version : Who keeps taking your Astral Candescence?

I really need to stop showing up to Level 8 Mamool Ja Besieged. Today, Lakshmi lost Besieged yet again to the Mamool Ja. Neither the Trolls nor the Undead Swarm have beaten us yet. Which makes me wonder about their relative strength. What is it about the Mamool Ja that my server keeps losing to them?
But anyhow, what I was really wondering is: for those of you on servers other than Siren, which beastmen force tends to capture your Astral Candescence? Have you noticed one particular force doing it more often than the others? Or are the 3 beastmen forces equal opportunity Besieged streak spoilers?
Of both the times Leviathan has lost the Astral Candy after the addition of Level 8 Besiegeds, both were Mamool Ja as well. My guess is the 45389205342 Eidolic Qufeel Jas running around Groundbursting and Mijin Gakure'ing everything in sight, and having that Hydra knockoff to attract all the noobaloxes in the zone and leave MAYBE 3 or 4 people in each "sector" to deal with all the regular mobs running around beating on the generals kinda screws things up a bit, but yeah, I've pretty much stopped showing up for Besieged lately just cause of the time and aggravation involved.
Of course, the Undead hax pretty badly too in level 8 (Lamia No. 2 and her "one-shot everything within a 10-mile radius" attack comes to mind), but for some reason, we haven't lost to them yet (but we've come pretty close)
Anyway, I'm done rambling for now, later!

Crap, again? What did our force in the zone look like?
What do you suppose it is about Mamool Ja that makes them more effective than the others? Undead have a whole slew of dirty tricks and seem to target the generals much more aggressively from what I've seen. If any force was going to be the Lakshmi-killer I always figured it would be them. The worst thing Mamool have off the top of my head is Qufeel Mijin, which is pretty horrible but not a win in itself ..

We got our taken last time by the undead I believe. I think we have lost it 5 x now.

Someone needs to update FFXIClopedia then.. Siren is undefeated.
Bastards.
Their EXP bonus must be legendary.
Huh, does mp bonus go up over time? Aint it capped at 15% or something?
And didn't Siren loose?

By MP bonus I assume you mean sanction refresh? I believe that the effect is constant, but at what % of you MP that it starts ticking in goes up with more wins in a row. I believe that caps at 85%. Meaning you'll get the refresh effect untill you are at 85% of your base MP.
As for exp bonus, I believe that does cap at a certain % as well.
EDIT: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Sanction
This has all the bonus and the percents it varies from at the bottom of the page.

Undead can literally one-shot generals with Death/Doom.
Mamool Ja has a NM that splits into multiple copies and blows up for 4000+ damage.
I made a post recently explaining the flaws(along with potential fixes) of Besieged, go check it out if you'd like.

Usually on Seraph it's the Undead, but lately the Mamool Ja have been taking it on us which is weird. We usually ****slap those _______ back to the stone age.
Why did I say MP??? I was tryng to type EXP lol, I need to go to sleep

We had something like 440 people in Al Zahbi during the Besieged. It happened around 1:30 PM EST, which is one of those limbo times between JP prime time and extended NA prime time. I guess it could be considered EU prime time. Not sure how much of our server is EU though.

Yeah, those Mijin mobs are terrible. Not only are there like 8 Qufeel Jas running around, but the Mamool Ja Sappers also do Mijin Gakure. And it seems like every mob in Mamool Besieged has a nasty AoE. All Mamools do Groundburst. Puks do an assortment of damaging TP moves and take forever to kill due to White wind. Hussars also have some kind of AoE damage move.
I haven't done an Undead Swarm Besieged since level 8 was introduced. Trolls though are weak compared to the Mamool Ja.
At most there were 500 people in the zone today, and it took forever for just the little weak peon mobs to go down. I Rampaged one mob at least 20 times - In the end I don't even think the mob died. I went splat after a nasty AoE from the Hydra, and then everybody ran to the Hall of Binding. I think one or more of the NIN mobs 2hr'd and that's what dropped out last stand.
Mamool Jas were our easiest until they added 8 NINs per NM death. 2hr does 4000 damage to anybody in the main square. That range needs to be adjusted, and damage toned down. NO way to Stun it due to lag, and it seriously sucks to die to something that you can't even see on your screen. Around the corner or standing right next to you. Seriously time to move some of the servers out of Asia.

Undead keeps taking our Candy - we do occasionally loose to Mamool, but it's mainly the undead that does for us.
Undead was always the problem when I did besiege. Drainaga, Stripga, not fun.
