Hello All,

I have a two-part question. One, does anyone have any experience with sleeping any of the three bats? If so, did it work or not? If it does, can a RDM/WHM RDM/WHM ?/? pt win this fight? If it doesn't, could the pt still win?

Second, has anyone ever got the astral ring drop for it? Or, is that near impossible... Should I definitely want a THF as the 3rd member for a chance at it?

Thanks,
Evion

5/8 on atempts
1/5 on astral drop

Went with whm/blk, war/nin, bst/nin. Never tryed to sleep. We just 2 hour charmed one of the 2 normal bats and sent it after the main one. Then the 3 of us focused on the other normal bat. By the time ours died....so did the charmed bat, but then it was 3 vs. 1 so it got beat like a red headed step child. The only problem we ran into was 2 hour charming the first sence all aggro at the same time. If the charm dosn't hit the first time, your still fine. The second time, you MIGHT be ok. If your charm fails the third time, .....your screwed.

I personally have never tried to sleep these, but I wouldn't think rdm/whm would be a good idea for a sleep. Rdm/blm at a minimum for elemental seal. Bats in general are highly resistant to dark based sleep, so a bard would probaly be preferable over rdm in this case.

Bats are just a bish to sleep with dark based spells as they are dark based themselves. The furies should be sleepable as they are just normal mobs, but Colo-Colo is most likely either immune or highly resistant to sleep as it is a NM. The few times I've done this, I did it as a BST and didn't use a sleep strategy. Hopefully someone else will have more knowledge on this particular BC.

They're NM's, they're bats. Those two things make RDM sleep very hard.

You might be wasting your seals, the lvl40 BCNM's have better drop rates. If you're specifically after the Astral Ring, then there is the lvl50 BCNM Treasures and Tribulation. No you don't have to be lvl50 to do it and you can do it solo.

Edit: Ok maybe they're not all NM's.

They're NM's, they're bats.

I had originally thought they were NMs as well, but the two Furies can be found elsewhere as well. They may check Impossible to Guage, but they are charmable so I would think they are not impossible to sleep.

But sleep would probably not last long being bats, and at level 20 there are few things that could help land sleep. Rdm are still kind of squishy at 20 iirc, at least tarus are >.>;

I was thinking if I could sleep the two furies at the same time with the two RDMs, we could kill the Co Co Cola before they wake up. Then, we could sleep one again, while killing the other. RDM/BLM RDM/WHM PLD/WAR Sound good to try it?

You're gonna die.

Seriously, (and you'll see this more as you level up), RDM for the most part doesn't have much of a chance sleeping things that are Dark based unless you are leveled decently higher then the mob.

If you must try and sleep the mobs, you might want to try and track down a BRD. Really though, you might find it more economical to wait until the lvl 40 BCNM's are an option for you or try the lvl50 one.

Because of the limit of abilities in very low level environments, doing things like this for an item or gil work best for a specific set of jobs with a specific methodology and not so well straying from that.

If your set on it then do it, as even failing might be fun because you wanted to do it. I'm just saying that if I were faced with that BCNM, I wouldn't be in there as RDM trying to sleep them.

While a rdm DD at 20 is acceptable, you'll likely be lacking damage to kill effectivly before the others woke up. Bats are weak to piercing, so I'd assume a dagger would be preferable. Pld I suppose would hate ok, but not sure how he'd fare against 3 bats. The rdms will likely get a few interupts or resist.

I'd suggest a drg as another DD, or replace a rdm with a drg. They'll do respectable damage and by subbing whm they'll have access to healing breath and should be self sufficient.

Although, it's only 20 seals so thier would be no harm in trying. Just from leveling blm with max enfeebling, full merits, and all the +enfeebling gear (minus enfeebling earring), bats are hard to sleep. I've even had them resist ES+Sleep II.

Its not worth it. I have done it so many times and even only go as 2 BST/WHM. Not once did the Astral ring drop. So far its just a waste of seals.
