I like the search feature for exp party functions, but for searching for missions and bcnm's it is very bad. I am currently trying to do my promy runs and also trying to get to rank 6(I am currently on mission 5-1) but have had poor luck with the promys and no luck with the missions getting a party together because I cannot search for players(jobs) that are currently looking to do it(other than guessing by searching for rank/lvl). I don't think it would be that difficult for SE to put a sub-category for people searching for parties for missions. I know you can search for comments, but that isn't giving any hits either. When you put up your party flag, you should also have let the system know what you are searching for. When you go to search for a job/player, you should also have to put what type of thing you are searching for. I know this has been brought up before, but with the expansion coming I feel that the search feature should be adjusted to make searching for a party for a mission possible.

There is a way to mark whether or not you are looking for missions and quests. Are you familiar with the exp search comment? That green dot that some people have next to their names when they are lfp? Well, there are different colored dots people can fill out for looking for quest and mission parties as well.
The only problem is hardly anyone uses them. RDMs, WHMs, BRDs, and tanks avoid it because even if the dot is red instead of green, there are desperate party formers that still don't bother reading the comment and ask them to join an exp party.
And honestly, it's just not that efficient. Some people might be looking for a mission, however they might be doing something like farming or teletaxiing with a job that isn't the level needed for the mission, which makes them invisible to the people forming mission parties and searching for certain levels or jobs.
Most find it effective just to set aside a nice big block of time and start shouting in Whitegate or Lower Jeuno, which is what I suggest you do, my friend :\
It already exists.
Your own post is proof of why it doesn't work- because people don't know, and those that do don't care. There's a reason why LS exist, bud.

I would but I have heard some real horror stories about the parties people have gotten doing that exact thing. I guess I'm not too big into random shouts.
I didn't know about the different color flags(I thought that was for the LS pearl color-except for green). Like you said, it seems like that would be unrelible.
an addition to my original post:the search status should reset when you log(if you are searching for a mission) if they added the sub-search

So basically you're saying it's safer to find random people on the other side of Vana'diel than random people in town to do missions with?
