View Full Version : Advice On Unlocking DRG Please?

Unfortunately this has all gone terribly wrong for me! :(
I have just gone through this quest to get DRG, "The Holy Crest" (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/The_Holy_Crest)
and at the end, you have to fight a big dragon called Cyranuce in Ghelsba Outpost. I tried it and picked up some stuff, (rolanberry Pies, hi-ether postions) but I just cannot fight this thing! He was too tough and killed me!! :( :(
Does anyone know what level he is, and which level I would do better to fight him at please?
I know it goes through a cutscene, but is it possible to get someone to help you fight him, (there maybe someone I can call on ingame to help me) or is it STRICTLTY solo only?
I was really hoping very keenly that I get started on the DRG job this evening too, more's the pity! :( :(

You can go in with up to 6 people. It's recommended that you be at least 60 I believe before soloing him.

Simply do a search for any high level Dragoon on your server, and I'm almost positive you'll find at least one willing to lay the hurt down on ol' Cyranuce.
BTW, he's level 40, can be taken down by a full party of lvl 30s, 3 level 40s, a solo rdm/nin at 50, or just about any Dragoon 55-60+. Tossing in a 75 Dragoon gets you a 50-75% dead Mr. Cutauleon by the time you get out of the initial cutscene (and that's even taking into account skipping all the text). ;)

I am not aiming to be horrible here but did you try reading through the links you are posting before asking these sorts of questions?
From the link you posted:
Travel to the hut at G-10 in Ghelsba Outpost (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Ghelsba_Outpost). When ready, open the door and spawn Cyranuce M Cutauleon (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Cyranuce_M_Cutauleon).
Defeat Cyranuce M Cutauleon (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Cyranuce_M_Cutauleon) to complete the quest. Job Dragoon may take a few minutes to appear on your menu.
if it was me this would be a really big nudge to me to check out the Cyranuce link seeing as how you have to beat him. If you did that you see:
Notes:
Spawned by Quest: The Holy Crest (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/The_Holy_Crest)
Killable by: 6 characters level 30, 3 characters level 40, soloable by RDM/NIN 50
Around 2500HP
at the bottom of his page. That lets you know that you don't have to solo him and gives you a rough idea of what you need to beat it. Ffxilopedia is very good for giving you a rough idea of what you need to beat a particular NM.
Also, when looking at NM pages if you see that a bst, blu, smn using astral flow or rdm/nin (all very strong soloers) can solo something at a certain level, unless you are playing one of those jobs you are going to want to be a higher level before you consider trying to solo it yourself.
Some friends and I went and did several job quests together so we had 50 whm/blm, 38 rdm/whm and 40 drg/thf for this fight. It took about 2 minutes but we did have the advantage of dragon killer. If you have a level 50+ melee friend and you go whm, you can probably duo it.

Beat him with my static duo of...and don't laugh THF/WHM and WAR/MNK at lvl 40 no potions required.. by the by if you are having trouble and you can have a max of 6, use them,, but it is a very easy fight IMO

Its Snowball.
Get used to it.For serious. It's always a treat seeing how badly a walkthrough can be misinterpreted though.
