i just wanted to know would u use a light staff with carby or dark staff with carby

Carbuncle is a Light-elemental Avatar, so you would use the Light staff with him. Elemental staves enhance spells and effects of their aligned element, while weakening spells and effects of the alignment they dominate. For Avatars, a matching staff reduces perpetuation cost and boosts the Avatar. I'm pretty sure an opposed staff would increase perpetuation cost in addition to weakening the Avatar.

At 51? Not really
At 75? Yes, but which ones will of course depend on your job. Personally (RDM) I'm looking at HQ Ice, Wind, Earth and maybe Light. SMN would probably get the most use out of all the HQ's, followed by BLM.

As a blm I only have 4 HQ staves: Jupiter's(thunder), Aquilo's(ice), Pluto's(dark) and Auster's(wind)... all the rest are NQ. The others are a waste of money to me, since I rarely cast those spells. When I finish rdm I may buy Terra's(earth) as well.

All HQ staves are a luxory for most jobs. For a smn the HQs that you'll want will usually be Auster's (wind) and Apollo's (light) as Garuda and Carbuncle are the typically avatars used for extended periods of time. Of course it would vary depending on where your level and what avatars you use.

Each HQ staff reduces perp cost by 1 more, so they're definately worth it but you have to prioritize which ones you want first based on what avatars you use the most.
