i am lv 51 i was on the lowest curve of the party51-53 but my dmg and my auto's dmg was out DDing even the drks. My auto was landing 220 Cb while i was hitting 190 raging fist, + 50 skillchian. My autos avg dmg was 40-60 crits 60+ while i was hitting about 30-70 per Total Hits. We were fighting crabs. We were getting 2 skillchains per fight. and i love how Cb ignores Def
now i still need the teir 3 attachments i only have some of the upper ones and basic.

^^b good to hear you had a good round of DD going there, just don't expect to keep up by end game though. PUP's good, but it's just not a dedicated DD like RNG or MNK.

The way i see it, things can only get better. we will get stronger, better gear, better things to do at endgame
on a side note i impressed a party member so much. once i get sea and sky i have a endgame ls to use with pup. At Endgame we might not have the highest dmg but our autos ignore Def and such, we will get stronger and stronger :thumbsup:

im 66 and i still hold well on dmg i average a 300+ howling fist and my auto (sharpshot) averages a 400+ daze. I feel that i do just as much dmg as any other job. not to mention the occasional flashes and/or shield bashes my automaton tosses out. Pup is definately still an asset to parties at this level despite what anyone may say.

Dedication doesn't come from the job. Stop putting it down, you're only spreading misinformation for all the sheeple out there.

While you get stronger, pure DD jobs get a LOT stronger.

Exactly my point. PUP is *not* a DD, so don't kid yourself. Like BST, it's a soloing job. That doesn't mean it can't DD (BST is apparently really strong if you fork out the cash, but then so is NIN...) it just means are other jobs that will excel above and beyond you.
I'm not trying to trash PUP here, I'm just saying don't get your head in the clouds with high expectations and have fun with the job.

True but why is it if i am not DD i am Out damaging other dds as sam, war, monk ect.
My rng frame is doing 400+ easy Daze's and hitting for 120 ranged attacks while i hit for 20-40 per hit and do 250+ raging fist and we togeather over 600-800 dmg as a lv 56 pup

It's because the differences in skill ratings don't get really pronounced until after level 60. At level 60 a mnk will have 203 h2h skill and you'll have 190. Not that big a difference. By level 75 the mnk will have 275 skill and you'll only have 225—a difference of 50 attack and accuracy. And while you will have better gear options open up for you, "real" DDs will get stuff that's (god help me for saying this phrase) even more better.

Plus, PUP can't get Asuran Fists, nor does it get as many Martial Arts traits etc. Anyway, don't let it get you down when the other DD jobs start soaring ahead of you and just enjoy PUP. If you're not having fun then what's the point right? ^^

yes pup has 225 skill at 75 non merits, and does not have Asuran Fist....
But we have a automation to cover up the back end. The auto will and does more dmg then us at higher lvs. So u cant critique a job on just the master u need to add in its pet also. if i were to have a view on job as smn u would use the dmg of the summon not the summoner. with pup its vice verse, u add in the dmg from both the master and the pup
I think Se will give us a increase in h2h and our autos a Tier 3 weapon skill.

PUP is not a solo job, it's just not feasable. Our damage comes from our automatons, and our healing comes from our automatons. We're not going to put out enough damage on our on, and we can't count on the Stormwalker to back us up. It randomly nukes, enfeebles, and heals.

Except SE says it is a soloing job. They've said it repeatedly in recent interviews... whether you view it as such or not doesn't matter. They did say they had plans for a WHM and BLM head so that you guys won't be stuck with RDM (Storm) all the time which is pretty cool.

At Lv.60, about 7 minutes to kill a VT Lesser Colibri, solo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9GdogwxZAc&mode=related&search=); Master tanks with /WAR and Defender up, Automaton supports/cures with occasional nukes.
Not a great kill speed, but looks like PUP would be good for soloing EM to T fights.

yeah they said it was solo, but only one guy said that, Probaly had no idea of what he was talking about.
Also back then Bst was not a solo job, they said they never wanted bst to solo, and never wanted smn to be main healer, the job becomes what the player base wants. And the playerbase for pup is they want to party. We need a better defineing role in a party, abnd yeah we can solo but everyone and there mother can solo with nin sub.
If we were meant to solo then i say drop the activation timmer down to 5 mins not 20.
i prefer to party, so i am hoping Se sees that and gives the Big overhaul they were talking about during E3

With the new update at 75 with Role Reversal you can go pup/drk and use last resort and soul eater and then raging fists for 500-800 and then use role reversal for the HP right back, also have your automaton skill chain with you.
Now, anyone who says that is not a good DD can go to hell.

No, actually it's on a 4 minute timer with one merit, so that would work pretty well. One good WS every 5 minutes doesn't convince me that the job could keep up in damage with a war or a sam or a mnk though. I mean, those jobs are putting out that kind of damage every time they get TP, not just when their JAs are up. I'd have to parse it myself to believe it.
I was in a PT with a pup the other day. I'm a taru mnk, he's an elvaan pup. his h2h strikes were (just by eyeballing it) 10-15pts lower than mine. Attack speed is slower since I dont think pup gets any martial art traits unless they sub mnk which he did not (he was /war). He was using howling fist and landing them for around 200-300dmg.
His automaton was doing decent dmg, 100-110 on ranged attacks and 300ish on ws.
I'm sure if i parsed it, he would have put up some decent numbers. Its definitely not a big WS type of job as of right now.

Pup gets martial arts III at 75 according to the wiki, vs Martial Arts VI for a mnk, so he did have some, but he still would've been waiting about a second longer between rounds.
ok cool.
so that would put him at MA-II then since he was 72.
From the interviews, I really hope they make the changes they have coming for PUP to be a doozy.

We do put up some pretty good numbers for how we've been pegged. My damage isn't as consistant as my automaton's, but I put out from aroun 40-60 damage a hit from what I can tell. Sharpshot ranged attacks are anywhere from 100-120, and Daze hits for anywhere between 400 and 420. Autoattack between ranged shots is about 10-20 damage.
Taskmage is correct though, we don't gain strength as fast as other jobs do. We do gain access to more DD equipment, but not much for where we'll probably be wearing our AF for a while. Assault gear will probably become a staple. Hopefully SE will retune us a bit in our later levels.
I think it would be cool if the pup took more of a back-seat role to his automaton. Right now it seems more like a 60/40 or 70/30 pup/automaton in terms of activeness. Give the pup more control over his automaton, give the automaton more PC like abilities so the pup can just be busy controlling him.
I hate the gear they allow pup to wear. Absolutely dreadful. You guys get some nice h2h gear that mnks cant wear though.

That's really what I was thinking. It seems rather weird for the puppetmaster to get so involved in fights personally.
It'll be interesting to see the WHM and BLM models once they're out. Who knows, maybe PUP will be able to back up/main heal? Magic damage support would be very welcome at times too.

Thats one pup. I am a taru pup and hit harder than that. I can do 450-600 per WS and my ranger automaton would WS with Daze for 450-500 every time and SC.
