best mnk race?

there is alot of talk going around on what is the best mnk race so now im confused elvaans are said to be the best but what about galkas they are only 2 str behind and the only other thing elvaans have on galkas is mnd but chi blast is going to do good damgage regardless of mnd as long as you boost right? i was planning to come back to ffxi so i would like some friendly opinions on this.

i understand as long as you are good at your job the race doesnt matter but if you are good at your job why not make your self better by haveing the best stats and gear.

If you're going strictly by stats and not gear (which is stupid), then I guess Elvaan for STR, or Galka for HP. But as I said - stupid.

not really that stupid taru health and str are not anywhere near a galkas and the the only way it will be close is with gear but even with the gear galkla can equip the same gear and then it would come do to just the stats

No, it really is that stupid. There are successful monks of every race. And since it's highly unlikely that you'll ever get some of the rarest and most powerful MNK gear in the game it's kind of a moot point for you.

LOL! I remember when there used to be flame threads worth like 18 pages with Elvaans and Galkas arguing about which race is better for monk! Ah, good times... :biggrin:

But yeah, there is no best race for any job; just pros and cons. Any decent player can overcome race short comings, so dont worry about it.

Galka are probably best as they have more stregnth but IMO human is.

Which ever one didn't hit /attack and then go AFK at the time.

Your race, especially with MNK, is almost completely unimportant. MNKs are too busy kicking ass to worry about a few measly stats here and there.

you'll learn that the difference in str will be almost unnoticeable. im a 70mnk also and ive been in multiple mnk pts and really, there is no glaring difference i promise you.

even with the same gear, im on par with elvaan/galka mnks.

the only thing is hp. at 70, i have 1300+ hp, which is more than most melee and some tanks.

going by stats is stupid as murphie pointed out. if you dont believe so, you'll just need to find out by playing.

the best advice when deciding to play any job is to pick a race/model type that you think you can stare at for hours on end.

Elvaan will have the highest STR and MND, and 2nd highest HP and VIT (MNK's key stats)

Galka will have a little less STR and MND but a good chunk more HP and VIT.


Stats aside, play whatever race you like best.

The best looking race is the one for MNK--whichever is the best to you.

Why? You'd be looking at it for 75 levels, and then some. Nothing is more important than not staring at something butt ugly hours at a time, for weeks and months and years. x_X;

Elvaan are weird looking MNKs. But no one is guaranteeing you want to be a Career MNK, so just be Hume like everyone else and never be excessively gimp in one area or excessively awesome.

No kidding. I love how buff/sexy my Elvaan is (almost makes me jealous lol) as I view him as a projection of myself (or rather my Ego). I would have been a Mithra if only males were available but oh well. If you don't mind getting hit on from time to time by desperate nerds, pick a mithra for the eye-candy factor nya! :3
