Right now I'm on PSU and I like it...but something makes me want a true MMO.

Things that make me reconsider though...

This game is not solo friendly unless something has changed. I like partying but sometimes I just want to level up on my own. And I don't want to be forced into BST just to solo.

I can play for maybe 2 hrs a night, maybe 3 on some nights. I don't want most of that time waiting for a party.

Lots of classes, but only some are considered acceptable, which limits your choices. You can choose what you want, but you might be waiting a while if you decide to stop soloing and find a party.

Basically my real issue is I want to play the game on my own pace. I don't want to be excusively solo, I just want to know if there's options if I don't want to wait for parties.

Despite what many people will say, Lots of jobs are soloable, it just takes time. Some of the better ones are Blm, rdm, and Drg, I dont have personal experience with others though, maybe someone else can help you if you dont like those ^^b

Edit: Such as this Blm Solo Guide (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Black_Mage_Solo_Guide_by_Lion_heart) Gives lots of helpful information, and you can solo it all the way to 75 ^^b

I am going to be honest with you... this game probably isn't for you. It's ENTIRELY group based no matter what anyone tells you. You can solo only as a BST (unless you're some sort of uber twink) productively, and it's VERY slow going and boooooring. As someone from another thread stated, this game requires 3 hour minimum sessions for any meaningful progression, so it's not casual friendly. Waiting for a party can take time with any job (though much less frustrating with some than others), and it's hard to play this game at your own pace. You're really at the whim of the entire community, and that's what many of us LIKE about this game. It's very very community centric.

Actually, blm is quite fast at soloing if you do it right, can lvl about the same speed as a pt. Drg also does quite well /whm, also if you do it right.

what's the deal with NPC fellows? That could be an option, maybe.

I don't want to exclusively solo. But if I can't party I'd like to have options to at least do something on my own besides waiting or hanging out at the auctions.

Also, I like hybrid-type classes maybe a melee/healer like a PLD or RDM. But SAM looks darn cool too.

Edit: I like what I see with FFXI though, I've always loved the art style of the Final Fantasies. I think Square Enix has some of the most talented artists out there right now. The world they built is fantastic.

But I really want to like this game...lol.

I have been away for a long time (played at launch for about a year), so it looks like some things may have changed.

I played the trial version so I know a little about the game. But I solo'ed until lvl 10 or so and never got into a party. The LS I was in broke up before I got to know anyone.

Don't tell the guys at PSOW that I'm thinking about defecting. lol.

The only thing that's really changes (besides equipts) is that people know more things about the game, such as how bst mobs pets are so Squishy =p

If you have some extra money that you don't need, and aren't going to send it to me, you might as well try it.

The game itelf is only $50 on the 360, all expansions included. Monthly fee is about 12? Even if you play for three months, you aren't out too much.

Actually its only 20$ new now. And a free trial month so...yeah maybe I'll give FFXI another go...

BTW how's the community now? A lot of high levels, or is this game getting a lot more new players? I figure people will still be leveling low leveled subjobs still hopefully.

Since you can pick a server now at cha. creation, which is the most newbie friendly/ nicely populated right now? That might be a difficult question, I know. I just need a general idea.

You have nothing to lose!! Think of it as a month long game rental...with the option of buying it instead of taking it back

Been playing a year, and my highest job is 49. However I've taken 3 jobs above 35, and not once was it hard to find a party.

A lot of people with level 75 jobs seem to be starting another job over from the start to level with friends that are moving servers. I don't think finding people to play with will really be a problem.

As for server, if you don't know anybody, I don't think it will be much different. Every server will have it's saints, and each will have it's assholes.

Hello, I just started playing the game once again, and this is a very good time to start playing. Atleast on the server I am on, Asura, there are lots of people on, at any given time, which makes me so glad, because that was what I wanted (not being in a dead server :wtf:). So please, do yourself a favour and start playing now!

I was on the fence once.

I have the splinters to prove it.

The Vana'diel collection is only $20 for the PC.

Wonder why Xbawks verison is $50.
