Holy Macaroni Batman!!!
This particular Besieged I'm in currently is the longest one ever. I'm beginning to think there was a glitch since the update?
So far, I've taken a shower, made coffee, made sandwiches, played a round of baseball against my friend on his Wii... All while my friend has used her MNK 2 hour TWICE!
Not to mention... All generals have been dead for a little over an hour....
I like Besieged... but I'm officially bored now.
Update!: At 11:17, Mamool Ja Savages have retreated! Wow.... lol.
I really can't believe we STILL won.
So what were some of your longest Besieged like?

Ya on Caitsith it was a mess, mass death - almost lost AC. I died about 5x just in the AC room (atleast I got to see it up close) Its definetly waaaaay to hard, it better get adjusted or my besiedged days are over.

Undead Swarm took like 7 hours to get here, and the giant OMGWTFBBQNM Leon thing distracted us, but we still won. Just dropped Trolls in about 40 minutes, and Mamool Ja's are @ Lv.8 knocking on our door. Really wish they would advance faster!
We thought the Undead Swarm would never end, but we dropped the uber-NM and won. We learned from our distraction in the 1st one (lost all our Generals & then rescued them all) and only lost 1 General against Trolls!
S-E's gonna need more than Lv.8 to knock Lakshmi off it's horse! 1900 EXP/IS ain't bad either, especially after spending 10k IS to upgrade my Mog Locker.

All I know is that I've seen Besieged all night long on the FFXI Live Cam.
UPDATE
Lakshmi 732 - SquareEnix - 0
We used to talk about how Mamool Jas were so easy, well S-E fixed that. 2.5+ hours and we JUST sent them packing. NMs spaw 8 NIN type mobs that like to 2hr and hit anybody in range for 4000 dmg. Giant Hydra marches the main square so nobody can go in it, and WHM mob that spams Cure V, Curaga IV and an AoE that does 400~700dmg every 15 seconds.
Those first few Lv.7s were a pain and then they got easy. I'm wondering if these will ever get easy. For now, Lakshmi's still perfect.

It was weird. Before the Mamool Ja marathon I went through last night, we sent the Troll Mercenaries back home. As soon as the closing cutscene's were over for that Besieged, the Troll Mercenaries were already level 1 again. I thought that was odd.

As soon as the closing cutscene's were over for that Besieged, the Troll Mercenaries were already level 1 again. I thought that was odd. That seems to be a display bug. If you wait a little bit, it'll kick back out of the preparing status. At least, that's what happened for us last night with the undead swarm. That may have been a result of our emergency raid on Arrapeggo to get our generals back, quickly wiping through most of the mobs in the zone.

I forgot to check our Victory count after the 2nd Besieged last night (Mamool Ja) before I went to work, so I don't can't tell if it was a display bug or they came back again.

If the three beastmen armies were on a rolling offense like that then holy sheet. @.@

Odin was rocked by L8 Mamools. I have never seen so many NM's in one place.

Yeah, like a third of the beastmen army in level 8s is lesser NMs. At least the trolls had names though. With undead swarm it was like Lamia No.2, Lamia No.3, Lamia No.4, Lamia No.5, Lamia No.6, Lamia No.7, Lamia No.8, Lamia No.9, Lamia No.10, Lamia No.11, ... Lamia No.23. I guess that did make status shouts easier ...
/sh General Zazarg @<pos> 2F vs Medusa, 2, 9, & 13!

Odin was rocked by L8 Mamools. I have never seen so many NM's in one place. Yeah, Mamools are rediculous now! Every time you kill a NM 8 NIN's spawn who spam Mijun, doing 4k damage to anybody in the area. That's why it took us 2.5+ hours to chase them out of town. Didn't help that a Hydra was roaming the main square either, distracting people. That thing has CRAZY high Auto-Regen.

Beseiged is glitched, methinks. On Lakshmi, Trolls have been at level 1 Preparing with 100 forces for the past hour. I was looking forward to doing Besieged too
They were like that at 7AM when I logged out Lyonheart. No idea what that's about. But as soon as Undead Swarm Warp'd, it showed them at Lv.1. After we bum rushed the Reef to rescue Generals, it went back down to zero.

Likely, SE wants players to go into the strongholds and kill the NMs. They are probably tied to the Beastmen Forces, likely, less NMs would appear.

Last night we had L8 Mamool Ja and L8 Undead Swarm at pretty much the same time. We got the message saying that the Mamool Ja are going through Wajoam Woods, then two minutes later the same one saying that the Undead Swarm was advancing. Tons and tons of people stayed up really late for it, started about 3am. About ten minutes in, the Trolls were preparing and were at about 105. I stayed up until about 3:45 then went to bed but left my character logged in.
I got up at 9am, checked my computer and the Trolls were just beginning to advance and they had only just finished the Undead Swarm attack. These L8 attacks are designed to be lost unless there's 700 people in Al Zahbi. I have never, ever seen so many monsters coming so fast, or so many corpses lying around the place. There's going to be a point where people will lose interest or the attacks start at bad time and the Astral Candescence will be lost. You simply cannot defend against L8 without solid commitment.

I really think that they need to place beseiged in prime time, whether it's NA, EU or JP prime time. I dunno with so many people playing you'd think that they have enough defenders when they attack.
Oh Remora lost the Astral Candescence 6/5/07. Sometime in the evening of NA time. Damn those sexy undead!!!

Yeah, aftet the maint we had L8 on all 3....I only stayed for 3/4 of the first one...it lasted for freaking ever.
All 5 generals went down in the 1st attack, I know they retreated but I can see us haivng defended the AC for another 2 full on lvl 8's.
I havent logged back in since so I dont know the situation on Bahamut....

If you can defend the generals, L8 doesn't seem to last much longer than L7 to me. If the generals go down, it's going to last for-freaking-ever regardless.

Why though? If they generals go down, shouldn't it be easier for the Beastmen to take the AC?

Why though? If they generals go down, shouldn't it be easier for the Beastmen to take the AC?Well yes, but it takes longer to win. When the beastmen kill the generals they get a time extension. At least, that's what I've been given to understand.

I didn't know that.Thanks.

Rather, I should have said when they kill a general they get a TE, and the minimum time for besieged goes up, regardless of force strength. I don't know if anyone's taken the time to nail down the exact mechanics for it, but it seems like besieged ends either whenever the beastmen force drops below a certain strength and a minimum time span has elapsed, that time being based on the level of the attack and extended by some amount based on the number of generals that are absent.
