Job Abilities
Snake Eye - Next Roll will be a 1
Fold - Removes one Roll or Bust effect. Targets the effect with the longest remaining duration
Job Traits
Winning Streak - Extends the duration of Phantom Rolls
Loaded Deck - Focuses effect of Random Deal on job abilities waiting on recast. Has a chance to fail if only one job ability is waiting on recast.

Now, this is just a hunch on my part, but since SE mentioned there will be more adjustments to the jobs announced on update, I'm thinking they're going to alter Random Deal Recast beyond 40 seconds down per merit to make Random Deal more attractive.
15 minutes between random deals sounds a lot better than 16:30 or 20 minutes, get a few CORs in rotated into an alliance just for that and that will be quite powerful. Just think of being with a RNG PT and setting off another round of Barrage or Flashy Shot again.
Winning Streak could also make me rethink my Quick Draw recast merits. I'm currently at full QD recast merits and they'll probably stay there Until I'm done with Group 2. If you went with full Phantom Roll recast merits and Winning Streak, a COR would have lots more time between rolls to DD with /RNG or support with mage subs like WHM, BLU or RDM. COR is busy, so more time is good. But it depends how much more time I'd be getting.
Snake Eye looks great for all those times you land unlucky or get near a lucky or 11, being able to slip in that 1 is nice, but its value is going to be determined by its recast. If Fold gets the lower recast, which is possible, then it may edge out Snake Eye.
And that's really what the merit agendas for CORs will ride on, knowing those recasts will influence a lot.
These adjustments are major for COR's role in alliance play at any rate and very helpful over all. They're not mindblowing compared to what BLU and PUP are getting, but then, we've always had it pretty good.
I'm currently 5/5 on Quick Draw Accuracy and Quick Draw Recast in Group 1 and happy with that as it is. It lets me eek in a bit more damage over time with element shots and gives me more freedom to pull and set up fights with Light Shot. I'm undecided where to go at this point on Group 2, need those recast timers and then it will all fall into place.

Your ability to DD will depend on the how much longer phantom roll will last.
Btw kitten, from all your praises of how good COR is in a manaburn PT I decided to try it, and it works really well, so thank you.

Manaburn is the biggest thing keeping me from undoing my QD Recast merits, Light Shot is of immense value in any burn, but in Manaburn it can be used to the same ends as Gravity if timed correctly, this on top of it being used to set up a pre-emptive strike.

I actually found PUP's merits to rather underwhelming.
Still no abilities or gear that directly enhance the performance of Phantom Rolls! GRR!!!! :angry:

What are you talking about? Snake Eye, Fold, and Winning Streak all effect/enhance the performance of Phantom Roll directly. That's 3/4 of the new merit abilities that Corsair is getting! :wtf:

I think he means gear that will give the buffs bonuses. I've never understood why people want that because:
(1) Our buff duration is clearly superior to BRDs and (2) BRD use instruments and skill gear to enhance their buffs, we use other jobs to do that.

I thouroughly enjoy how much longer than songs rolls last. That timing lets me rotate up to 4 rolls (if I really feel froggy that day) while pulling if I'm /NIN or /RNG, or, alternatively, I can add in a two song rotation on top of that if I'm /BRD. I'm often recasting my songs a lot more than I am rerolling my rolls (but that's just as much due to the songs being subbed as much as it is their inherent durations).
This update is really nice for me, since two of my three jobs are getting new merit abilities (for when I evenetually get them to 75), and all three can benefit from increased Combat Skill Merit limit increases (no longer must I choose between Polearm, Sword, or Marksmanship as much). I could either go 8/8/4, or go for a more balanced layout of 6 each (Polearm already has an advantage here from being my main weapon of choice, and having 4 merits in it already; Sword has 1 merit from simply being a skill Dragoon has natively, so my Blue Mage has been using merited Sword skill since as soon as merits come into play in the low levels :thumbsup: ).
I've been dreading the fact that I may have to sacrifice Marksmanship to some extent. Not so much now.

I really hope COR Relic (if and when it comes, since SE is being so damn cryptic about it) will have at least one piece that enhances the effects of each roll. Yes, there are already job bonus effects, but you gotta admit it'd rock to have at least 1 gear that enhances their effects, like say +2-5% more EXP on Corsair's roll for example.
The abilities SE is giving are all great, and I don't dare knock them, but it would have been amazing to have a JA that gives your next roll it's job bonus automatically, regardless if that job is present ^^b
But who knows? Maybe SE will come out with Category 3's >. >

I think that's the exact reason SE won't give us such gear, that's the first thing players think of. Give me Roll effect earrings like BST gets killer earrings and that's fine, give me a body armor that enhances all rolls and players will only want COR to use Corsair's Roll.
Um... no, just no.

Make Relic Phantom Roll enhancement a chance thing? e.g. Lucky number more often, and unlucky number less often? Can also have another Relic gear which enhance Double Up by lessening the chance of bust by a few percentage points.

and that was only a made up figure, though a reasonable one. I doubt they'd force you into using just one roll, given that all rolls are suddenly boosted. A further boost to the effectiveness of Fighter's and Rogue's rolls would be phenomenal, as an example. Never mind the potential for Wizard's Roll or Evoker's Roll.
Though they'd have to be insanely careful with Evoker's, and this is probably the main reason they haven't done this yet; Even an automatic +1 MP would have a pretty big impact. Suddenly with a SMN present it's automatically basic refresh from RDM.

If they are picking unenhanced Fighter's/Rogue's over Corsair's now, why would they start picking enhanced Corsair's over enhanced Fighter's/Rogue's?

I don't think we need to veer off-topic much further. Corsair's Roll is a minor annoyance as its is now due to party spacing in most situations. If I'm already making 10k+ in 45 minutes, there's no need to deal with the headache of landing that roll on everyone.
People hear EXP bonus and their ears perk up. We don't know how easy/difficult relic is going to be to obtain, but if its easy, I think Corsair's would be one of the first in people's minds for us to roll. I see Corsair's Roll like BRD's Mazurka, it was intentded to be a novelty buff. It was a Gambler nod SE lifted from FFX-2's Lady Luck.
As I said, I don't think we need such a buff via merrited job trait or gear because Phantom Roll's duration is already superior to BRD's and that's pretty powerful considering what else it enables a COR to do in the space between rolls.
I also think our Group 2s lay out the hint of what we're looking to get from relic armor anyway. Quick Draw Ehancement/Accuracy, AGI, Winning Streak, Stacked Deck, possibly MAB or MAC bonuses and the general Ranged Accuracy/attack stats. I imagine it'll be remixed like RDMv2 pretty much was or RDM AF.

I see Corsair's Roll like BRD's Mazurka, it was intentded to be a novelty buff.
this was the saddest nerf ever for me.
singing paladins were by far my favorite tanks. (as much for the novelty of /brd as a tanking sub and the emote of casting as for effectiveness)

Snake Eye and Hold initial recast is 15 mins and can be merritted down to 10.
Winning Streak adds 20 seconds per merit, so we can eek out an extra minute on rolls. Nice.
Stacked Deck reduces failure rate of Random Deal 10% per merits. 30% reduction with full merits
3/3 Snake Eye and 3/3 Winning Streak for me.

Verdict on Snake Eye - Very Gewd
I think I'll merit SE twice, Fold once and Winning Streak to full instead.
Snake Eyes shouldn't be needed all that often, nor should Hold, but these are excellect fallbacks for COR when combined with Winning Streak. We just became far more reliable in the refresh department than we were before.
