I found him after killing the Shadow Dragon a few times in Xar. LOL like I was going to be able to kill Biast. Anyway, I had to check him a few times just to make sure it was the nm. He let me know it was him when he aggroed me. Like an idiot I ate a Quake near the start. That put me down to 10 hp. I Super Jumped and healed my self and the fight went pretty smooth. The paralyze kinda sucked and got me in trouble with some -gas but I am used to that. I kinda played with it a little bit waiting a for a friend from Sandy to come and the title. Pretty easy fight though. Freaking out and not paying attention are what lead to me getting myself in trouble.

Anyway no hat :(, but a nice new title.

why would you want that hat >.>To help your friend prove that drg/rng outparses something that looks like it has an o-hat on, obviously. Also for making your pup friend feel less bad about their gimped skill rating.

It's just a silly gag item that says "I killed a silly gag NM." It's easier to throw on the hat than to change your title.

I use that hat and stubling sandles during parrying skill up parties same with mnk for guarding. comes in handy and skill ups come frequently and also i've never seen anyone else gear up like this when skilling up those skills.

I'm probably wrong on this, but I heard that gear does not affect skill-ups... If your base skill is within the range to get skill ups on a particular monster you will skill up. I would imagine that you would want to go with more ACC to hit more therefor getting more skill-ups.

How would ACC help skillup things like Guard and Perry? Skills that to be used, require you to get hit. As such, lowing evasion would increase the amount of hits you take and therefore increasing the rate of skillups.

BTW if gear does not affect skillups, where would you get that extra ACC from in the first place?

For weapon skillups, my friend always tells me to take off +attack gear when I get close to the cap and the skillups slow down. It may just be perception or coincidence, but whenever I do that the skillups seem to pick back up in speed. /shrug

I don't know if its so much that +attack itself slows down skillups, but in general you don't want to kill things too fast when skilling off them, so lowering your potential damage can help. More skillups per mob give the perception of faster skillups and make the whole process easier to handle. Nothings fun if it seems like you're going nowhere.

Sorry not been looking at the forums.

One time, when I get a good period of time to myself, I'm gonna camp that sucker... I'm not gonna let a stinky french pld friend of mine be the only one with the title...

The gear *isn't* affecting whether or not you get a skill up, it's affecting your *chance* to get a skill up. To skill the defensive skills like Parry and Guard, an attack has to beat your Evasion check and you stand a better chance of that happening by lowering your evasion. It's why Parry, an A ranked skill, is so hard to lvl as a Thf because our Eva is A+ ranked and we evade before we Parry. Lower evasion and Parry will get more chances to proc.

As for not using Att thing, that's to keep a mob alive longer. The best way to skill up is to fight something with low Eva and High def, so the mob lives longer. When a mob dies, it means people stop swinging which means they're slowing their skill ups. But hitting the same mob for 5-10 minutes at a time will give you more chances to get a skill up. It's why mages would use a trick in sea to skill staff by using a 1 dmg weapon on a mob that doesn't aggro unless you do dmg. They'd set auto attack and /follow and just whack away for 0 dmg for hours on end. SE then changed it so now you can only get a skill point for doing at least 1 point of dmg.

Hehehe - the play I saw was absolutely fantastic. Something about only being four feet away (while he was performing!) from one of the hottest properties on British Television was amazing...

... or why I would camp a NM with a repop time of up to a year to get this thing:

pray you don't have people killing the two mobs to block the nm.

seasonal nm only pops in rainy season exact days i don't have off hand, its basically very much like Rose Garden, Sit, wait and pray someone doesn't kill it on you.

edit pop said to be:

5/4 ~ 7/3 for vana time

Really? I haven't tried camping it in a while but I thought the repop window was something like 3-4 months if the PH aren't killed.

His repop is 2-4weeks (Let me recheck the time)

But it can take months for him to pop because of people killing the ph.

I once bumped into Taisaijin (sp) whilst running through the Pass and unforuntately only ended up getting the Scroll of Refresh.

I noticed the title, "Bye Bye, Taisai" but didn't think anything of it, but then I noticed people in town who checked me sent me tells saying "cool title" etc.

I was a little baffled by this as I wondered what was so special about this title, as there are hundreds of odd/humourous/serious etc titles in the game - so why this one?

Now I see on this thread too, everyone is after the title. Can someone explain it to me please? Does Taisai translate to something funny? Is there something I'm missing please?^^ Thanks!

Its a rare title. The nm spawns every few days if nobody messes with the taisai. People come in and kill the placeholders all the time and that restarts the countdown for the mob to spawn. Its a rare title.
